Private Photo Studio in Singapore

My home studio in Tengah is a private space for portrait sessions that benefit from controlled lighting, simple backgrounds and fewer distractions than a public location or shared rental studio. It is particularly useful when privacy, consistency or a focused working environment matters to the photographs we plan to create.

I use professional artificial lighting as the main light source and adjust its position, direction and intensity according to the person, clothing, pose and intended mood. Rather than applying one fixed studio formula, I consider how the light, camera angle and background work together for your particular purpose.

Is This Studio Suitable for Your Session?

The space works best when its privacy, controlled lighting and simple backgrounds support what you need.

  • Individual and couple portraits:

    Suitable for headshots, personal portraits, personal branding and photographs of two people where the planned compositions fit the available space.

  • Fitness, fashion and expressive portraits:

    The controlled lighting and private setting can support physique, fashion, glamour, boudoir and creative portrait concepts.

  • Small families, children and pets:

    These may be possible depending on the number of people, ages, movement required and intended setup. Please discuss the details with me before booking.

  • Simple or creative concepts:

    We can create straightforward portraits or develop a more deliberate concept using lighting, clothing, posing and suitable props.

The studio is not the right space for every project. Larger groups, wide sets, substantial props or concepts requiring more distance may need a suitable rental studio. I will advise you honestly if another location would serve the photographs better.

How I Use the Studio

Controlled Studio Lighting

Professional artificial lighting is the main lighting approach in the studio. I position and adjust the light according to the face, body, clothing, pose and intended style rather than using one setup for every client. This can support clean headshots, softer portraits, stronger physique definition or more dramatic creative work.

You can also view my available photography and lighting equipment. The equipment is a means to create the photograph; the actual setup depends on what we plan together.

Backgrounds & Working Space

I generally use black or white backdrops for full-body photographs. Different framing, light placement, clothing and poses can still create varied results within those simple surroundings. The available floor area affects the group size, camera distance and lighting modifiers that can be used, so I consider the practical requirements before confirming that the studio is suitable.

Respectful Guidance & Privacy

I provide verbal posing guidance without physical contact and explain adjustments as we work. Unlike a public location or shared rental studio, members of the public do not pass through the shooting area. My wife and any agreed team member, such as a makeup artist, may be present where required.

Studio Facilities & Practical Information

  • Location:

    The studio is located in Tengah, Singapore, with public transport and nearby multi-storey car park access.

  • Cooling and ventilation:

    The studio is not air-conditioned. It uses natural ventilation together with an air cooler, fans, dehumidifier and air purifier. Please consider whether this arrangement suits your comfort and session requirements.

  • Changing:

    A generously sized bathroom is available for changing outfits.

  • Hair and makeup:

    I can recommend professional makeup artists for your consideration. Their services are arranged separately, and I do not take commission from them.

  • Accountability:

    The studio has a locally stored CCTV system intended to maintain a record for the protection of the parties involved. If this affects the suitability of the space for your session, please discuss it with me before booking.

What is the best time to schedule a studio photoshoot?
Any time that you feel your best. The studio is a controlled indoor environment, allowing consistent results regardless of weather conditions or time of day.
Is the studio air-conditioned?

Is there a place to change outfits?

Do you provide hair and makeup services?
I can recommend professional makeup artists for your consideration. Their services are charged separately and their rates vary according to their experience and offerings. As I do not take any commission from them, their recommendations and services remain entirely independent.

Can families be photographed in the studio?

No. Unlike outdoor photography, the studio is unaffected by rain, strong sunlight, haze, or other weather conditions.
Is natural light used in the studio?
Professional artificial lighting is the main lighting approach because it gives me deliberate control over the direction and intensity of the light. Available natural light may still be incorporated when it contributes usefully to the photographs we are creating.
Is the studio private?
Yes. Sessions are conducted in a private environment without members of the public walking through the shooting area.
