Show the Space as It Was Designed
Great interior photography does more than document a space-it captures the atmosphere, design, and character that make it unique. Whether you're showcasing a home, condominium, hotel, restaurant, office, retail space, or architectural project, professional photography helps present the environment in its best possible light.
Creating compelling interior photographs requires careful attention to lighting, composition, perspective, and detail. Every room is photographed with the goal of accurately representing the space while highlighting its strengths, design features, and intended experience. From spacious layouts and architectural elements to textures, furnishings, and ambient lighting, each image is crafted to convey both form and feeling.
Whether the photographs are intended for marketing, listings, publications, portfolios, social media, or personal documentation, every project is approached with professionalism and attention to detail. The result is a collection of high-quality images that showcases the space clearly, attractively, and authentically, allowing viewers to appreciate its design and character before they even step inside.
Focus on décor, layout, materials, and ambience to highlight thoughtful design.
Showcase the full space with flattering angles and balanced compositions for property sales or rentals.
Detail-oriented photography for furniture brands and sellers who want their pieces presented attractively within a real environment.
Introduce people into the space to demonstrate how an interior can be experienced and enjoyed.

Great interior photography conveys not only how a space looks, but also how it feels.

Interior photography showcases atmosphere, design, and craftsmanship through carefully composed images that help viewers appreciate a space before they even step inside. To refine your ideas before we plan the details, read my guide to defining your photoshoot goals and consider which photographs, purpose, and experience matter most to you.
Every space has a story, and professional photography helps communicate its design, purpose, and atmosphere. I provide on-location interior photography throughout Singapore, using a combination of natural light, careful composition, and professional techniques to present spaces accurately and attractively. Once your project is confirmed, I'll advise on preparation and styling considerations to help achieve the strongest possible results.
Property photography uses the existing ambient light within the property, including daylight and the property's own artificial lights. This keeps the photographs representative of how the space is designed and experienced.
Where useful, I work with window light and the direction of daylight to show the space clearly while managing bright and dark areas through timing, exposure and the selected package approach.
The property's installed lamps and fixtures may be used to preserve its intended atmosphere, colour and interior design.
Please ensure the relevant lights are working and that curtains, blinds and lighting controls are accessible before the shoot.
Your interior photography session can also include portraits if you need them. Once the space has been photographed, we can use the same environment to create professional portraits of you, your team, your clients, or other people associated with the project. This can be particularly useful when the people behind a space are just as important as the space itself.

For homeowners, an interior photography session can also be an opportunity to create portraits of you and your family within the home you've created together. Rather than photographing the space as an empty interior, these portraits can preserve the people, relationships, and memories associated with it.

Interior designers, architects, contractors, property professionals, and business owners can also create branding portraits within the spaces they designed, built, manage, or represent. The completed interior becomes a natural and meaningful backdrop for showing the person behind the work.

For businesses, the same session can also include testimonial photography. Photographing a business owner, designer, contractor, or satisfied client within the completed space can create more personal and credible marketing imagery for websites, social media, portfolios, and other promotional materials.
Adding portraits to an interior photography session can be a practical way to create a more complete collection of images in one visit - documenting not only the space, but also the people who live in it, created it, or bring it to life.
I've clarified many aspects of interior photography and some parts may be too technical for non-photographers to absorb and understand fully. Therefore, to sum up, what matters most is the results.
I've grouped my interior photography portfolios into various galleries for you to have a basic glance at what you'll receive for working with me. Unfortunately, due to the huge amount of work, I'm not able to keep pushing the new albums here.
As an interior photographer, I aim to capture the true essence of each space while ensuring a seamless, professional experience for my clients. Here's what you can expect when working with me:
Before the shoot, I take the time to learn about your goals and expectations. This allows me to offer tailored advice and ensure the final images perfectly align with your needs.
Lighting is crucial in interior photography. Rather than simply sharing my availability, I recommend the ideal time for the shoot to ensure we achieve stunning results-and I'll work my schedule around it.
I come equipped with everything needed to capture your space beautifully, including a wide-angle lens. If you have specific requirements, I'll bring the gear necessary to meet them.
Whether it's a home or business, I prioritise making property owners, staff and residents feel comfortable during the shoot. I respect every space and communicate professionally to foster a welcoming environment.
If there are pets on the premises, I adapt accordingly. My natural rapport with dogs and cats helps them feel at ease, while I continue capturing the space effectively.
I work exclusively with ambient light to maintain the real mood and character of the space. This approach ensures the images reflect the atmosphere as you experience it in person.
Every space has its special features. Whenever possible, I collaborate with the property owner or designer to ensure those standout elements get the attention they deserve.
If you have particular angles or compositions in mind, I will do my best to capture them. For example, interior designers may want images that closely match their 3D mock-ups for comparison. I will follow your requests before continuing to capture the space in the best way possible.
Throughout the session, I carefully review images on my camera's LCD screen to ensure everything is looking its best. If I spot areas for improvement, I adjust the scene and reshoot to achieve the best possible results.
I use my experience to frame shots in a way that allows for effective post-production adjustments. For example, I leave extra space in compositions to fix distortions and crop images properly in Photoshop while maintaining the integrity of the final result.
As a skilled portrait photographer, I can take candid, natural portraits during the session. For professional portrait options, I offer customised setups upon request.
Every photo undergoes detailed post-processing to enhance clarity, lighting and colour while preserving authenticity. This ensures polished, high-quality results.
I don't rush the editing phase. I carefully review the images multiple times for days or weeks to refine them with a fresh perspective and select the very best for delivery.
Final images are delivered digitally via a weblink, allowing you to download them instantly from anywhere. This method is both convenient and environmentally responsible.
If you're seeking exceptional interior photography that highlights the best features of your space, let's work together to create impactful, captivating images.

Clients' Testimonials
"Punctual & professional photographer. He also made my clients at ease while he moved around taking his shots. Overall the photos turn out good."- Edwin Kwan (Interior Designer)
Hello! I'm Skai - a professional interior photographer based in Singapore. I grew up in a very... unique environment. My mum, whom we fondly call a "professional hoarder", turned our small HDB flat into a maze. It took real creativity to navigate from one room to another without knocking something over. Sometimes, I even had to climb over things just to get to the kitchen-okay, that part is a joke. But honestly, it was messy, chaotic and anything but peaceful.
Naturally, I found myself loving the experience of visiting other people's homes. I didn't know why at first - I just knew it made me feel good. It was only much later that I realised: it was therapy. Stepping into a clean, thoughtfully designed space felt like entering another world. A beautiful one. Even though those homes weren't mine, I found joy in appreciating their beauty - and capturing that beauty felt instinctive. I've always had this nosy habit of preserving moments, not just for myself but for others. It's my way of holding on to something before it fades.
When I started photography as a freelancer, interior design firms began reaching out, asking me to document their completed projects. Every time I stepped into a well-designed space, I felt the same excitement all over again. Shooting interiors isn't easy - getting the right angles, dealing with lighting, styling small details - it takes patience and a good eye. But I give every shoot my all. I want to bring out the very best in every space, even in subtle ways most people may not even notice. That's the kind of pride I take in my work.
If you're looking for someone who genuinely loves what they do and wants to help you document your space with sincerity and heart, I hope you'll join me on this journey. Let's create something meaningful together.
Want to know what shaped the way I work today? My photography journey has taught me far more than cameras and lighting.

The usual photography equipment I would use for my interior photoshoots are:
The reason for using a full-frame DSLR is to keep the images sharp and clean while I'm able to shoot in higher ISO.
The range of a 16-35mm lens on a full-frame body fits well for most interior shoots; do note that a wider angle would cause great distortion that may give a creative effect but may not be suitable for most professional uses; just imagine you using a fisheye lens! Moreover, the Canon 16-35mm F4L "L series" lens is a sharp lens.
Depending on the goal of the shoot, I may bring other equipment along, including other lens. You can check out the full long list of my photography equipment if you're curious.
My vision for interior photography is simple: to create stunning and breathtaking photographs that truly reflect the beauty of every space I photograph.
I put in the effort to fully understand the purpose of each photoshoot, whether it's to showcase the stunning work of a talented interior designer, give viewers a better understanding of the property's layout and elements, or help sell or rent the property by highlighting its best features.
Once I know the purpose, I put all my energy into creating photos that perfectly capture the essence and beauty of the space. I believe in keeping things as true to the original as possible, so I use natural light and strive to maintain the ambient lighting and colours of the space. Should I need to move a piece of furniture or adjust some decorative items to get the perfect shot, I'm not afraid to go the extra mile.
As a professional interior photographer based in Singapore, my goal for every interior photography project is to support the success of my clients, such as interior designers and real estate agents. I understand that their success translates to greater opportunities for me to secure more projects and grow my photography business.
To achieve this, I aim to deliver high-quality interior photographs that effectively capture the attention and interest of potential clients, and contribute to the success of my client's businesses.
I also understand the importance of sustainability, both for my clients and my photography sessions. I offer competitive rates for the quality of my work and effort, recognising that good-quality photography may come at a higher cost. However, I believe in the value of investing in professional photography for attracting high-budget clients and driving success.
In the same vein, I encourage my clients to plan their budgets accordingly, striking a balance between delivering top-notch interior photography and maintaining financial sustainability.
Showcasing the space in the best possible light is important for making it appealing and inviting to potential customers, clients or viewers. I use lighting and composition techniques to highlight the unique features and details of the space and make it look as attractive as possible. I also consider the intended purpose of the images, whether it's for real estate, an interior designer's portfolio, or to showcase a showroom, and then tailor my approach to meet the specific needs and goals of each project.
As an interior photographer, I always try to accurately capture the size, layout and details of the space being photographed. This includes capturing the architecture and design elements, as well as the colour palette and lighting in the room. I make sure to take a thorough tour of the space before the photoshoot to identify the best angles and perspectives to capture the space in a way that accurately represents it.
High-quality images are key to making a lasting impression on the target audience. I use professional photography equipment to create sharp and well-exposed images. Next, I employ post-production techniques, such as colour and brightness correction, to produce images that are visually appealing and accurately represent the space.
Time is a valuable commodity, especially in the world of photography. I prioritise being efficient with my time and work to produce images promptly. This helps me to meet deadlines and ensures that the images are ready for use when they are needed. I also make sure to properly plan and prepare for each photoshoot to minimise the amount of time required on-site.
My ultimate goal is to exceed my customers' expectations and provide them with high-quality images that accurately represent the interior space. I aim to make the customer happy with the final product and ensure that they are satisfied with the results of my work. I communicate openly with my customers throughout the photoshoot process, keeping them informed of the progress and making sure that their needs and preferences are being met.
I believe that continuous growth and development as a photographer are key to success. I set personal goals for growth and development, including improving my skills and techniques, experimenting with new and innovative approaches to interior photography, and keeping up with the latest industry trends. This focus on personal growth allows me to bring fresh and innovative perspectives to each project, helping me to produce results that exceed my customers' expectations and establish a reputation as a top-notch interior photographer.
I began my photography journey doing on portrait and event photography. After sharing my portfolios online, I gain some exposure.
Fortunately and unfortunately, many non-photographers believe that every photographer can do every genre of photography. I was approached for interior photography, which was my interest; however, it wasn't my focus at that point of time due to lack of time. The client believed in my ability although I had honestly stated my lack of experience. Nevertheless, I took up the challenge, bought myself a proper tripod and accomplished the shoot.
My first interior shoot was an extremely challenging one because it was a commercial project in a dark themed F&B outlet and the staffs were busy preparing for its opening. The client was happy with the results that I was also proud of. Then he assigned me another residential interior project that he needed for featuring on somewhere.
From then on, more clients saw my interior portfolio and started approaching me.
Of course, my initial rates were low. After taking up a few interior projects, I realised the effort I had spent and the quality of work I had produced worth much more. I quickly priced my interior photography sessions in order not to spoil the market and also to ensure that I can sustain my photography services.
I love doing interior photoshoots because it allows me to document the beauty and unique qualities of different homes. Growing up, I lived in a messy house and as a result, I have always enjoyed visiting other people's houses. I love seeing how people decorate and design their homes and the way they make them their own.
One of the things I appreciate about interior photography is the opportunity to interact with homeowners. I enjoy learning about the positive and negative aspects of their homes, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. This helps me to understand different design choices and to gain inspiration for my own home.
Another reason why I love doing interior photoshoots is that it allows me to document nice things. I find it satisfying to capture the beauty of a well-designed space and to be able to share that beauty with others through my photographs.
To conclude, interior photography is a passion of mine because it allows me to combine my love of design and documenting nice things in a creative and meaningful way.
As a professional interior photographer in Singapore, I have had rich and diverse experience in capturing the beauty of various residential and commercial properties. Through the years, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, including interior designers and real estate agents, and have been consistently impressed by the warm hospitality of the homeowners I have encountered.
One of the highlights of my job is the opportunity to spend time with homeowners, exchanging ideas and building meaningful relationships with them. On many occasions, I have stayed for an hour or so after the photoshoot to chat with the homeowners, and I am grateful for their warm and welcoming nature. This has allowed me to create long-lasting friendships and I am always humbled by their kindness and generosity.
Another reason why I have had such a positive experience is that the interior designers I have worked with usually choose homeowners with great character and personalities. This has allowed me to work in a relaxed and comfortable environment, which has greatly contributed to the success of the photoshoots and the quality of the images I produce.
One of the longest times I have spent on a high-end interior photoshoot is 4.5 hours, working on just a studio apartment with a mini garden. Another landed property high-end interior photoshoot took me two days for 10 photographs. Many clients are amazed by the actual effort and amount of time spent, and I'm glad that they eventually understand the difficulties after witnessing me working on the ground and seeing the results.
When I was searching for my own HDB resale flat, I went through online property listing portals daily for months. Trying to figure out the exact designs and layouts through the uploaded pictures of most of the property listings gave me pain. This experience helped me to get a much clearer picture of what users need to understand the interior of the property. It also further unleashed the drive in me to take more high-quality interior photos.
I'm blessed to have met many nice people while working on interior photography projects. Although every client and project is unique and does bring great memory to me, there are some projects that I miss greatly.
Interior photography is the photography of indoor spaces, with attention given to their design, layout, materials, furnishings, lighting and overall appearance. It can be used to photograph homes, offices, retail spaces, restaurants, hotels and other commercial or residential interiors for interior designers, architects, businesses, property owners and other clients who need professional photographs of a space.
Unlike indoor photography, which simply means carrying out photography indoors, the interior itself is the subject in interior photography. My job is therefore to find compositions and camera positions that show the space clearly while also paying attention to perspective, proportions, visual balance and the details that make the interior distinctive.
Interior photography also overlaps with real estate photography, but the priorities can be different. Real estate photography is generally intended to present a property clearly and efficiently for sale, rental or listing purposes, while interior photography can place greater emphasis on design, craftsmanship, materials, styling and selected architectural features. The same property can therefore be photographed differently depending on who needs the photographs and how they will be used.
One of the biggest challenges is that every space is different. A small bedroom, an open-concept kitchen, a large office and a carefully designed commercial interior cannot all be photographed using the same number of angles or the same amount of time. Some spaces need only a few photographs to describe them properly, while more complex layouts may require additional viewpoints and detail photographs.
Lighting can also be challenging because interiors often contain a mixture of daylight, ceiling lights, lamps and darker areas within the same scene. Windows may be considerably brighter than the room itself, while reflective surfaces, mirrors and different light sources can introduce additional problems. Depending on the space and requirements, I may work handheld for efficiency or use a tripod and techniques such as HDR when greater control over exposure and image quality is required.
Preparation of the space matters as well. Photography can make clutter, crooked furniture, loose cables and distracting objects more noticeable than they appear in everyday life. Wherever possible, the interior should therefore be cleaned, organised and prepared before the photoshoot so that I can concentrate on photography rather than spending the booked session rearranging the property.
For me, good interior photography isn't simply about making a room appear as large or bright as possible. I want the photographs to represent the space attractively while still making visual sense, choosing viewpoints that communicate its layout, design and important features according to the purpose for which the photographs are being created.

Great interior photography is not simply about documenting a room. It is about showcasing atmosphere, design choices, functionality, and the experience of being in the space.
Professional interior photography can:
Whether the space is residential or commercial, strong photography helps communicate its character and purpose.
All interior photographers have different shooting styles and choices of equipment. I've classified my interior photography into two categories - professional and high-end.
I began my interior photography journey doing only high-end interior photography. Over time, I realise many clients do have budget and time issues. For example, many interior design (ID) firms have many projects to be added to their interior portfolios and thus they may have issues with their budgets; moreover, high-end interior photography requires much longer time, and it may pose inconvenience to their clients (the homeowners) who kindly allow the photography to take place in their premises.
Deep inside my heart, I really wish to help more people and indulge in more "sightseeing" of beautiful interiors. It took me a long time to explore and test on my personal projects to decide on providing professional interior photography that's ample to create beautiful work for regular usage.
▲ Professional interior photography done using handheld DSLR. As seen above, the high-quality image is good enough for web viewing purposes, even on a normal desktop monitor.
▲ Zoomed in view. Please view on a large screen to see the grain/ noise level. They are usually neglectable even on normal desktop monitors. However, do take note that it may not be ideal for large print due to the grain/ noise.
Professional interior photography is for people who require professional high-quality images (that may have noises/ grains) but don't need to do large printing - it's mainly for web viewings, such as social media and websites. As long as the pictures aren't used for large prints (posters/ magazines), they will look clean enough, including on desktop monitors.
The photoshoot will be done with a full-frame DSLR camera and lenses, handheld (no tripod). Without having to adjust the tripod for every shot, the pace of the shoot will be much faster. Since the duration is being reduced, we can also afford to work on more creative angles and focuses.
The greatest advantage is that since less effort is required for professional interior photography, the rates are lower than high-end interior photography. The lower earnings don't affect me as long as my effort spent is compensated so that I can continue with my photography journey.
▲ High-end interior photography done using DSLR on tripod. The extremely high-quality picture is good enough for prints. It's also possible to be executed during low-light situations.
This is suitable for professionals who wish to use high quality (sharper and cleaner) images for printing, marketing or better branding their companies to attract more clients with higher spending power.
The photoshoot will be done with the aid of a camera tripod and it has to be adjusted precisely for every shot to capture the composition properly. It includes adjustment of height and angle of the ball head. Therefore, more time and effort would be needed for each shot.
Another advantage of high-end interior photography is that exposure bracketing can be used to cover more of the dynamic range. This means that the extremely bright and dark areas can be even out better during post-production. However, this technique requires a longer time for both the actual photoshoot and post-production.
If the ceiling and walls are of dark colour, it may greatly affect the interior photoshoot. In many such cases, high-end interior photography may be required. Therefore, do discuss with me, your interior photographer, and let me know of the situation so that I can give you proper advice.
No matter how good the interior photographer is, there's a limit to what he can do. The interior design and furniture will greatly affect the final products. It takes two hands to clap.
Since the situation for every venue is different, most professional photographers will not be able to determine them as well. Therefore, do give more detail so that the interior photographer can quote you better.
If you want to get very sharp and less noisy photographs for large print, you will definitely need a tripod. However, using a tripod with a slow shutter speed would greatly require much more time. This is why high-end photography will cost more.
Unless the place does not have windows, the timing of the shoot is very crucial to determine the quality of the photographs.
Some areas may look nice but may not appear nice in photographs or have very limited good angles.
As a professional interior photographer, I would like to offer a few tips and tricks for preparing your home for an interior photoshoot. By following these suggestions, you can ensure that your home looks its best in the final photographs and that we have a smooth and efficient interior photoshoot experience.
This is the first step in preparing your home for an interior photoshoot. Make sure to remove any unnecessary items, knick-knacks and personal items such as family photos (depending on the goal of the shoot), which can distract from the overall aesthetic of the space. This will help to create a clean, simple and uncluttered look that will show off your home's best features.
Shifting items during an interior photoshoot usually takes up a huge amount of time. For example, when we need to take the kitchen, most of the kitchenware may need to be shifted into one of the bedrooms. Thus, it's best if you can hide most of the items somewhere that won't appear inside the pictures.
A clean and organised home is essential for a successful interior photoshoot. Take the time to dust, wipe down surfaces and tidy up any areas that may be photographed. This will help to create a bright and inviting space that is free from any distractions.
Lighting is a crucial aspect of interior photography. Make sure to open all curtains and blinds, and turn on all lights in the room. This will help to create a bright and inviting space that will look fantastic in the final photographs.
Staging is the process of arranging furniture and decor in a room to create a visually pleasing composition. This is a great way to highlight the best features of your home and create a cohesive look in the final photographs. Take the time to rearrange furniture, switch out any decor items and create a warm and inviting atmosphere in each room.
An interior photoshoot is a time-consuming process and it is important to be patient and allocate enough time for the shoot. The photographer will need to make various fine-tunings during the shoot to improve the images, so it's important to be prepared for a longer process.
Before the interior photoshoot begins, take the time to walk through your home and highlight any important areas or features that you would like to be captured in the final photographs. This will help me as the photographer to ensure that I don't miss anything important and can create a final product that meets your expectations.
By following these tips, you will be well on your way to having a beautiful and successful interior photoshoot. I will appreciate the effort you put into preparing your home and the results will show in the final photographs.
I wish to keep interior photography prices as low as possible but not at the expense of me being unable to resume my photography sessions. Therefore, I would advise on how to cut cost and also advise against taking up unnecessary services that will increase the amount of the photography effort that will increase the photography rates.
The professional interior packages are good enough to produce high-quality pictures for most online usages. It can be done quicker and thus can reduce the photography rates.
From my experience, the shifting of items from places to places takes up a huge amount of time. For example, when we are shooting the kitchen, we might need to move excess stuff to one of the bedrooms. When we want to shoot at the bedroom, we have to remove the items from the bedroom again. This is absolutely time-consuming and thus will take up extra time.
First of all, declutter the place! What you can do is to throw away unwanted items, store the remaining items inside the storeroom or put them temporary at the corridor.
Next, style and decorate every location with minimal items so that I can begin shooting immediately.
This will avoid exceeding the booked duration and incur additional photography fee.
