Your Wedding, As It Really Happened
A wedding lasts a day, but the photographs often become part of your family history for generations.
Many photographers focus primarily on documenting events as they happen. While that's important, I believe the real value of wedding photography lies in preserving emotions, relationships, and moments that might otherwise be forgotten.
The nervous anticipation before the ceremony. A proud smile from a parent. A grandparent quietly watching from the corner. Friends laughing during the gatecrash. The expression on your partner's face when they see you. These are often the moments couples treasure most years later.
My approach combines candid storytelling, thoughtful observation, and professional lighting techniques when needed. Rather than constantly directing the day, I prefer to anticipate meaningful moments and capture them naturally while remaining calm, respectful, and unobtrusive.
The result is a collection of photographs that not only documents what happened, but also preserves how it felt to be there-allowing you, your family, and future generations to relive the story of your wedding day.
The excitement, anticipation, details, and candid moments before the celebrations begin.
Fun, energetic, and emotional moments as traditions, games, and laughter unfold.
The vows, rings, reactions, and meaningful milestones that define your wedding day.
Candid guest interactions, speeches, celebrations, and key moments throughout the event.
Natural and romantic portraits that celebrate your connection amidst the excitement of the day.
Beautiful photographs with family and friends that preserve important relationships and memories.
Actual day wedding photography is ideal for couples who:
Photographs that bring back the joy, excitement, laughter, and love long after the wedding has ended.
Beautiful images of family members, relatives, and friends who shared this important chapter of your life.
While you're busy celebrating, countless meaningful interactions happen around you. Candid coverage helps preserve these unseen moments.
Thoughtful lighting, composition, and guidance help ensure flattering portraits throughout the day.
Timeless imagery that remains meaningful for decades and can be shared with future generations.
Knowing the important moments are being documented allows you to stay present and focus on enjoying your wedding.
In short, actual day wedding photography is about preserving emotions, relationships, and memories in a way that allows you to relive your wedding day for years to come. To refine your ideas before we plan the details, read my guide to defining your photoshoot goals and consider which photographs, purpose, and experience matter most to you.
Your actual wedding day is filled with meaningful moments, and I ensure every detail is preserved-from morning preparations to the grand celebration. My documentary-style approach allows me to blend in while capturing the emotions and highlights of the day.
Event coverage normally uses suitable natural or available light, with an on-camera speedlite when necessary. This keeps the coverage mobile and avoids interrupting important moments with a fixed lighting setup.
I use suitable daylight and the venue's existing light whenever it supports the atmosphere and allows clear photographs. When necessary, I may use an on-camera speedlite, normally bounced from a suitable wall or ceiling.
Off-camera lighting is not normally part of event coverage, but it may be arranged beforehand for portraits or a fixed activity area where practical. The standard setup uses one light; additional lights cost extra.
If the venue, crowd, timing or available space prevents an agreed off-camera setup, I may use an on-camera speedlite instead, bouncing it where practical or using a larger flash modifier when there is no suitable surface.
For a practical comparison, read my guide to flash and natural-light photography.

This (AD) actual-day wedding photography began with the solemnisation at a beautiful outdoor location. Unfortunately, this wedding event was delayed until the sun was reaching the horizontal. The beautiful soft sunlight lasted only for minutes before it was replaced entirely by darkness. A couple of harsh spotlights in the opposite direction became the main source of light.
The second half of the wedding event, the buffet-styled banquet, was held indoors. An extremely talented comedian was invited as the host/emcee who rallied cheers and laughers from the very appreciating and cooperative guests.
This is one of the most special actual-day wedding photography that I've photographed. The couple booked a few resort units for some of their overseas guests and the bride's hair and makeup was done over there. They had their religion's ritual and tea ceremony for the bride's side at the resort's function room. Next, they went to the bridegroom's house for another round of tea ceremony.
The highlight was the wedding dinner at the park, in which a huge tent was set up and decorated. The wedding solemnisation was done there. The newlyweds held a live singing performance and there were some games to keep the guests entertained. Barbeque dinner was served fresh by caterers in a buffet style.
The solemnisation began at a church. The photography was arranged by the groom's mum and he was taken by surprise. The pastor organised a little tea break for the guests. The groom led the event like a professional host and a superstar.
Next, we moved onto a chalet by the sea and everyone was mesmerised by the scenery and decoration. It was a fun evening.

Clients' Testimonials
"I've known Skai for years. I really like his photography style. His photos are sharp and natural. He's very precise when it comes to lighting and photo editing. Also, he's a very nice photographer to work with. I never had to worry about getting sexually harassed, he always keep his distance with his models, he doesn't touch us in any event.
Throughout the years we have worked in multiple shoots and subsequently, he's also hired as my wedding day's photographer. This is how much I trust him, giving him my one and only actual wedding day."- Lovelle Cengiya

It all began with a leap of faith and a camera in hand. Little did I know that my passion for photography would lead me down the enchanting path of actual wedding photoshoots. The journey, filled with unexpected twists and turns, has been nothing short of extraordinary.
As I started sharing my event photos on my Facebook page, something incredible happened. People began to take notice of my work, captivated by the way I captured the essence of each moment. The word spread like wildfire, and soon enough, wedding couples were approaching me, eager to have their special day immortalised through my lens.
In those early days, I not only embraced the opportunities that came my way but also had the privilege of photographing weddings for my close friends. It was an honour to be entrusted with such a significant role, capturing their love stories in a way that reflected their unique bond.
With every wedding I documented, my passion grew, and so did my portfolio. I continued to upload more of my wedding work, showcasing the beauty and emotion that unfolded on each couple's special day. And as my online presence expanded, something remarkable happened - I started receiving requests from clients far and wide.
It wasn't just wedding photography that beckoned me; solemnisation photoshoots also became a part of my repertoire. Couples saw my dedication to capturing authentic moments and wanted me to be there, freezing their heartfelt exchanges in time.
The journey from uploading event photos to becoming an actual wedding photographer has been an extraordinary one. It's a testament to the power of passion, perseverance and the unwavering support of those who believe in my craft.
As a professional actual-day wedding photographer, I absolutely love doing actual-day wedding photoshoots in Singapore! I'm passionate about capturing the special moments and emotions of a couple's big day and there's something truly magical about being a part of such an important and unforgettable event.
One of the things I love about doing actual-day wedding photoshoots in Singapore is the diversity and culture. Singapore is a melting pot of different cultures and traditions, which means that every wedding I photograph is unique and special in its own way. From traditional Chinese tea ceremonies to Malay wedding customs, every wedding is a new and exciting experience that allows me to be creative and capture the essence of the couple's heritage.
Another thing I love about actual-day wedding photoshoots in Singapore is the stunning architecture and landscape that the city has to offer. The city's skyline and modern architecture provide a beautiful backdrop for wedding photographs and the lush gardens, parks and beaches offer a fantastic opportunity for outdoor shots that are truly breathtaking.
I also love the friendly and welcoming nature of Singaporean couples and their families. Singaporeans are known for their warmth and hospitality, and this always makes for a relaxed and enjoyable photoshoot. I find that when the couple and their families are relaxed, the photographs come out even better.
Lastly, I am passionate about storytelling through my photography. Every couple's love story is unique and I love being able to capture that story through my photographs. I want to provide the couple with a beautiful visual record of their special day, which they can look back on for years to come and remember the love and emotions of that special day.
Overall, actual-day wedding photoshoots in Singapore are an absolute joy for me as a professional actual-day wedding photographer. The diversity, culture, architecture, friendly people and the opportunity to tell a beautiful love story through my photographs, make every photoshoot in Singapore an unforgettable experience.
Actual day wedding photography, also known as wedding day photography, documents what happens on the wedding day itself. Unlike prewedding photography, which is usually planned as a separate portrait session, actual day photography follows the real events, people and emotions as the wedding unfolds.
Depending on the couple's wedding programme, the coverage may include preparations, gatecrash activities, tea ceremonies, solemnisation, family and group photographs, couple portraits, receptions and wedding banquets. Some moments can be planned and directed, while many others happen naturally and may last only a few seconds. The photographs therefore become a mixture of documentary coverage and more deliberately arranged portraits.
Actual day wedding photography can be challenging because the photographer has limited control over the schedule, environment and lighting. A wedding may involve moving between homes, hotels, restaurants and other venues within the same day, with very different lighting conditions at each location. Ceremonies can move quickly, large group photographs have to be organised efficiently, and important moments cannot simply be repeated because the photographer missed them.
For me, good actual day wedding photography is therefore about more than creating beautiful individual photographs. I have to anticipate important moments, work efficiently around the wedding programme, adapt to changing lighting and environments, and know when to give direction and when to stay out of the way. The goal is to document both the major events and the smaller interactions that help tell the story of what actually happened on the day.

Your wedding day moves quickly. Many moments happen once and cannot be repeated. Professional photography helps preserve those memories while allowing you to fully experience the celebration.
Professional actual day wedding photography can:
The photographs often become one of the few lasting records of a day filled with unforgettable moments.
Many of my favourite wedding photographs happen between the scheduled events.
A proud parent wiping away a tear. Friends sharing a joke. A quiet glance between the couple. These moments often last only a second before disappearing forever.
Rather than waiting for events to happen, I actively observe and anticipate moments as they unfold. This allows me to capture genuine expressions and interactions naturally, creating photographs that feel authentic rather than staged.
Years later, these candid photographs often become some of the most meaningful images from the entire wedding day because they preserve emotions exactly as they happened.
