The Day, Its People & What Happens Around You
Wedding photography can cover the ceremony, preparations, couple and family portraits, reception, details and the interactions taking place between scheduled events. The required coverage depends on your actual programme, the number of venues and which people or traditions are important to your families.
I work unobtrusively during moments that need to unfold naturally and become more directive when people must be gathered or a portrait needs deliberate composition. A clear schedule and family-group list help me anticipate transitions, while enough time between activities prevents meaningful photographs from being reduced to hurried documentation.
Lighting conditions can change considerably between homes, ceremony spaces, hotels and evening venues. I adapt the approach to the available light and the selected coverage, while planning any arranged portrait or lighting setup around the time and access the wedding allows.
Wedding photography can cover everything from engagement and pre-wedding portraits to the actual wedding day and other related celebrations. The result is more than a collection of posed portraits - it's a visual record of the people, relationships, emotions, and atmosphere that made your wedding yours.
Couple portraits created before the wedding, with locations, styling, and mood planned around your story.
Portraits that showcase the bride, wedding attire, styling, and details in a considered way.
Atmospheric portraits created after sunset using professional lighting and the surroundings available to us.
Discreet photography of the proposal and the moments immediately surrounding it.
Photography throughout your wedding celebration, from preparations and ceremonies to family moments and receptions.
Photography for civil solemnisation ceremonies and intimate celebrations with the people closest to you.
Additional photographic coverage for larger weddings, multiple locations, or occasions where simultaneous moments need to be documented.
Photography for related celebrations and traditions such as wedding rehearsals, Betrothal ceremonies (Guo Da Li), and other wedding events.
Wedding photography is designed for:
Photography can respect cultural traditions while adapting to the way you choose to celebrate your wedding.
From small solemnisation ceremonies to larger weddings, the coverage can be shaped around the scale and flow of your occasion.
Candid moments, reactions, laughter, and quiet exchanges are documented alongside the more formal photographs.
Careful composition, posing, perspective, and lighting create portraits that feel considered without losing the character of the occasion.
Simple direction and flattering positioning help people feel comfortable while creating photographs you'll be happy to keep.
A calm and approachable approach helps people feel at ease, particularly during busy celebrations with guests of different ages.
Wedding attire, rings, décor, flowers, venue details, traditions, and other meaningful elements become part of the visual record.
Photography can be coordinated with planners, coordinators, venues, bridal studios, and other suppliers to keep the day running smoothly.
Wedding schedules can change. I adjust to the circumstances while continuing to focus on the moments and photographs that matter.
Wedding photography offers imagery that captures emotion, connection, people, and detail - creating a considered visual record of your celebration and the moments that made it meaningful. To refine your ideas before we plan the details, read my guide to defining your photoshoot goals and consider which photographs, purpose, and experience matter most to you.
Wedding photography can take place wherever your celebration happens. From homes and bridal studios to hotels, solemnisation venues, restaurants, outdoor locations, and other distinctive spaces, I adapt the photography to your plans and surroundings. Once your shoot is confirmed, I'll help you consider the locations, timing, and photographic approach that best suit your occasion.
Event coverage normally uses suitable natural or available light, with an on-camera speedlite when necessary. This keeps the coverage mobile and avoids interrupting important moments with a fixed lighting setup.
I use suitable daylight and the venue's existing light whenever it supports the atmosphere and allows clear photographs. When necessary, I may use an on-camera speedlite, normally bounced from a suitable wall or ceiling.
Off-camera lighting is not normally part of event coverage, but it may be arranged beforehand for portraits or a fixed activity area where practical. The standard setup uses one light; additional lights cost extra.
If the venue, crowd, timing or available space prevents an agreed off-camera setup, I may use an on-camera speedlite instead, bouncing it where practical or using a larger flash modifier when there is no suitable surface.
For a practical comparison, read my guide to flash and natural-light photography.

Well, my journey into the world of wedding photography started with a humble beginning. It all began when some close friends of mine were getting married, and they asked if I could do the photography for their ROM and actual day wedding. Being the enthusiastic and camera-loving soul that I am, I eagerly agreed to take on the challenge. Little did I know that this simple act of kindness would set me on a path filled with love, laughter and unforgettable memories.
After capturing those precious moments for my friends, I couldn't resist sharing some of my portrait work on Facebook. You know, just to spread a little joy and maybe get a pat on the back or two. To my surprise, my portraits caught the attention of some new faces - potential clients, you could say! They saw my passion shining through those pictures and approached me to capture their pre-wedding portraits. It was a heartwarming moment, knowing that my work resonated with others and I gladly took on the opportunity to be a part of their special journeys.
As the days turned into months and my portfolio grew, something magical happened. Word got around and more and more folks reached out to me for various kinds of wedding shoots. It was like a beautiful ripple effect, spreading across different races and religions. I found myself capturing the diverse tapestry of love stories, each one unique and precious in its own way.
And so, my love for wedding photography blossomed and flourished with every click of the shutter. From capturing heartfelt ROM ceremonies to immortalising the joy of actual day celebrations, I was living my passion, one click at a time. It's a journey that continues to fill my heart with joy and I feel deeply grateful for every opportunity to be a part of these beautiful love stories.
Wedding photography is not just a job to me - it's my passion and calling. As a professional photographer based in Singapore, I have had the privilege of capturing some of the most memorable moments in people's lives and there's nothing quite like the feeling of being able to freeze those moments in time for eternity.
One of the reasons why I love doing wedding photography is because of the sheer joy and happiness that surrounds a wedding day. The atmosphere is electric and there's so much love and positive energy in the air. I may be naïve but I truly believe happiness is contagious. As a photographer, it's an honour to capture all these emotions and tell the story of the couple's special day through my lens.
Wedding photography also offers boundless opportunities for artistic expression. Each wedding is a unique canvas, and I relish the chance to explore my creativity, experimenting with various lighting techniques and seeking the perfect compositions. It is a constant voyage of discovery, allowing me to create images that are not just aesthetically pleasing but deeply meaningful to the couple.
Perhaps, the most rewarding aspect of wedding photography, however, is the opportunity to connect with people on a deep level. Working closely with a couple and understanding their vision for their special day is incredibly fulfilling and I always strive to create a comfortable and relaxed environment for them to feel at ease in front of the camera. Building these connections with my clients is truly what makes my job so special.
At the end of the day, wedding photography is more than just taking pretty pictures - it's about capturing memories that will last a lifetime. It's about telling a story and evoking emotions that will be cherished for years to come. As a professional photographer in Singapore, I am honoured to be able to do what I love every day and I can't imagine doing anything else.
Wedding photography is the broad field of photography surrounding a couple's marriage and wedding celebrations. It can cover much more than the wedding ceremony itself, including pre-wedding portraits, solemnisation, bridal portraits, preparations, actual-day activities, family and group photographs, couple portraits, receptions and other celebrations connected with the wedding.
Different parts of wedding photography require very different approaches. A pre-wedding photoshoot gives us dedicated time to plan locations, outfits, lighting and poses, while an actual wedding day is largely governed by the couple's schedule and events as they happen. ROM photography concentrates on the solemnisation and surrounding activities, while bridal photography places greater emphasis on the bride, gown, makeup, hair and other bridal details.
Wedding photography therefore combines both documentary and directed photography. During ceremonies, speeches, interactions and other moments that happen naturally, I need to anticipate what is happening and capture important moments without constantly interrupting them. For couple portraits, family photographs and group photographs, I can provide more direction when there is an opportunity to arrange people and refine the composition.
One of the biggest challenges is that many important wedding moments cannot simply be repeated for the photographer. The exchange of rings, reactions between family members, speeches and other spontaneous interactions may happen within seconds. Understanding the programme beforehand helps me anticipate where I should be and what is likely to happen next.
The photography conditions can also change repeatedly throughout a wedding. I may move between homes, outdoor locations, solemnisation venues, hotels, restaurants or ballrooms, each with different space and lighting conditions. Available light may change from daylight to dim interiors, mixed artificial lighting or stage lighting, so I have to adapt my camera settings and lighting approach accordingly.
Time management is another important part of wedding photography. Photography has to work around makeup, travel, ceremonies, family traditions, meals and the venue's programme rather than operating independently from them. When the schedule becomes delayed, the time originally allocated for portraits or group photographs may become shorter, so knowing which photographs are most important helps me prioritise.
For me, good wedding photography requires understanding the difference between moments that need to be documented as they happen and photographs that can be created with more control. I don't approach an unrepeated ceremony moment in the same way as a pre-wedding portrait or a planned family photograph. Each part of the wedding requires a different balance of observation, anticipation, direction and technical control.
