This page covers general questions about working with me, from your first enquiry to receiving your photographs. For advice about a particular type of shoot, visit its session page.

Please read the Service Agreement and Privacy Policy before booking. This FAQ explains the general process; the terms agreed for your booking, including your quotation and package, apply to your session.

Booking & Choosing a Service

How do I book a photography session?
Start with the enquiry form, which prepares a WhatsApp message for you to send. Share your requirements so I can confirm suitability, availability and the package. After we agree on the arrangements, the required booking fee secures your slot.
What information should I provide when enquiring?
The enquiry form will guide you. To summarise, tell me the photography service, purpose, date, location, number of people, estimated duration and budget. Mention your preferred package, intended use, privacy requirements and any delivery deadline. If you are still deciding, explain what you know so far.
Which photography package should I choose?
Choose according to the result you need, rather than duration alone. The lighting, planning, final image quantity and editing included can make a substantial difference. Review the rates and relevant session page, then tell me your priorities if you need help choosing.
Is my date reserved when I ask for a quotation?
No. An enquiry or quotation does not reserve the date. Please reconfirm availability before paying; the booking is confirmed when I accept it and receive the required booking fee.
How far in advance should I book?
Book once your requirements are clear and your date is reasonably firm. This gives us more time to prepare and improves your chance of securing your preferred slot. For a last-minute enquiry, send the full details so I can assess whether it is practical.
Can I book before deciding on a date?
Please discuss this with me first. An undated booking has a limited validity period, and a later date must still be available. Read the Service Agreement before paying.
Can you plan my shoot before I book?
I can help you understand the packages and whether my service fits your needs before booking. Detailed personalised planning, location research and creative guidance take time and normally begin after confirmation. Read why a deposit comes before detailed guidance.
Can you recreate a reference photograph exactly?
Reference photographs help explain the mood, lighting or style you like. They are a starting point for discussion rather than a promise of an identical result, because the subject, venue, light and conditions may differ. Share them before booking so we can set realistic expectations.

Rates & Payment

Where can I find your prices and package inclusions?
The rates page lists the packages and relevant options. Check the duration, image quantity, lighting and editing included. Tell me about requirements outside the package so I can explain any additional costs before you confirm.
How do I pay the booking fee?
PayNow is available. Please confirm the amount, payment details and availability with me before transferring. Follow the payment instructions provided for your booking.
When is the remaining payment due?
The remaining payment is normally due at the end of the shoot, unless a different schedule has been agreed. Please follow your quotation and payment instructions. Final photographs are delivered after full payment.
Are there charges beyond the package price?
Additional time, extra final photographs, advanced retouching, expedited delivery and a Privacy Buyout may cost extra. Venue hire, access fees, makeup or other arrangements may also affect the total. Declare your requirements before booking so the quotation can cover them.
Do public holidays or their eves cost more?
Additional charges apply to public holidays and their eves. Tell me the exact date when enquiring so I can confirm the applicable total.
Will the price be reduced if we finish early?
No. The fee covers the time and service reserved for you. Finishing early does not reduce the booked fee.
I only need one, two or three photographs. Can I pay less?
Usually not. Even when you need only a few final photographs, the preparation, travel, photography session, image review and post-production work remain largely the same. The included image quantity is one part of a complete package rather than the only factor determining its price. Read how I decide the number of photographs in a package.

Changes, Timing & Wet Weather

Is the booking fee refundable if I cancel?
The booking fee is non-refundable if you cancel a confirmed booking, subject to the applicable terms. It reserves my time and covers the commitment made to your project. Read the cancellation terms before booking.
Can I postpone or reschedule my shoot?
Contact me as early as possible. A new date must be available, and postponement is subject to the circumstances and the agreed terms. It is not automatically guaranteed; check the Service Agreement for validity periods and conditions.
What happens if it rains?
Prepare a suitable sheltered or indoor backup location before an outdoor shoot. Rain does not automatically mean cancellation or a refund. We will consider a practical, safe alternative if the planned location becomes unsuitable.
What happens if I arrive late?
The booked starting time remains the agreed starting time, so lateness can reduce your photography time. An extension depends on my availability and may incur additional charges.
Does the booked duration include setup and outfit changes?
Yes. Necessary briefing, equipment setup, lighting adjustments, outfit changes, movement between locations and reasonable breaks form part of the session. Allow enough time for the full process when choosing your package.
Can I extend the session on the day?
An extension is subject to availability and additional charges. Please ask before the booked time ends. The relevant package may charge extra time in blocks, so a short overrun will trigger the next chargeable block.
Can I change the location, number of people or brief after booking?
Please discuss changes before making arrangements. They can affect the time, preparation, equipment and price, and may require a revised quotation. I can only accommodate changes that are practical within the agreed service.

Preparation & Working Together

Do I need to know how to pose?
No. For portrait sessions, I guide you with positioning and expressions according to the look we are creating. Tell me if you feel nervous or have any concerns. You do not need to arrive with a complete set of poses memorised.
How should I prepare for the shoot?
Follow the guidance for your session, confirm the location and access, and arrive ready at the agreed time. Send important details and references early. For portraits, prepare your outfits and grooming; for other work, prepare the space, schedule or people involved.
Do you provide outfits?
No. Please prepare your own clothing. It should suit the purpose of the photographs and fit comfortably. I can offer guidance once the session is confirmed.
Can you help me choose outfits?
Yes, as part of the planning for a confirmed portrait session. Send clear front and back photographs of yourself wearing the proposed outfits, with your face visible, rather than flat-lay photographs of clothing. Send them early enough for useful feedback.
How many outfits can I wear?
Follow your package and the agreed plan. More changes use more session time and can leave less time for photography. Ask before bringing extra outfits so we can judge what is realistic.
Do I need to buy new clothes or iron them?
You do not necessarily need new clothes. Well-fitting outfits you already like may work well. Prepare them clean and tidy, and iron or steam visible creases where appropriate; basic editing does not include detailed clothing retouching.
Are makeup and hairstyling included?
No, unless your package says so. Tell me if you need these services before booking so we can discuss arrangements, costs and preparation time.
Who arranges venue permission and access?
The client will have to check that photography is permitted and arrange the necessary access, reservations and approvals. Tell me about restrictions on flash, equipment or movement before booking. Any venue costs should be clarified in advance.
Can we shoot at more than one location?
Possibly, if the plan and booked duration allow it. Travelling, carrying equipment and setting up again take time. A longer session or fewer locations may give us more useful photography time.
Can I request particular photographs?
Yes. Share important requests before the shoot so I can assess and plan for them. Results still depend on the available time, conditions and cooperation of those involved.

Photo Selection & Editing

How many final photographs will I receive?
The quantity depends on the selected package and agreed service. Check the package rather than assuming you will receive every photograph taken. Where additional suitable images are available, extra final photographs may be purchased. My photo quantity guide explains why the useful number differs between clients and photography genres.
Can I choose my final photographs?
For portrait and event photography, I first remove unsuitable frames and prepare low-resolution previews for you to select the photographs included in your package. You may select additional suitable photographs for editing at the applicable rate. Interior and real estate photography follow a different workflow because I normally select the strongest frame for each prepared scene. Read about my post-production process.
Can I ask you to choose the photographs for me?
Yes, a separate photo selection service is available. Check the rates page for the add-on, and discuss this when booking if you would prefer me to make the selection.
Can I share the preview photographs?
No. Selection previews are for reviewing and choosing photographs. They are unfinished images and are not provided for posting, editing or sharing. Please use the final delivered photographs.
What is the difference between basic editing and advanced retouching?
Basic editing includes adjustments such as colour, exposure and cropping. Advanced retouching/editing includes detailed skin retouching. Object removal and substantial changes are separate work unless included in your package. Explain specific requests before booking so I can assess them.
Can you fix everything during editing?
No. Editing has limits, and complex changes may cost extra or be impractical. Suitable clothing, grooming, location preparation and lighting help us create stronger photographs in the first place.
Will I receive every photograph taken?
No. Test shots, duplicates and unsuitable photographs are filtered out. The delivered set depends on your package and the suitable images available. Taking more frames helps me capture stronger options; it does not make every frame a finished photograph.
Do you provide RAW or unedited files?
No. My standard packages deliver selected, completed photographs. RAW files and unedited images are working material rather than the finished service. Read why I do not provide RAW or unedited photographs.
What if I have a concern about the edited photographs?
Contact me with the photograph numbers and explain the specific concern. I can review genuine technical issues. Preference changes, a different editing style or additional retouching may be treated as extra work.

Delivery & Keeping Your Photographs

When will I receive my photographs?
Refer to the current rates page and your booking for the expected turnaround. The delivery timeline starts after final payment; where client selection is required, editing also depends on receiving your choices. Read the delivery workflow for more detail.
Can I receive the photographs urgently?
Expedited post-production may be available for an additional charge, depending on my schedule and the work required. Tell me the exact deadline and number of images before booking. Urgent delivery must be agreed rather than assumed.
Can I receive just one photograph on the same day?
Please request it before booking. Even one photograph needs selection, editing and checking, so same-day delivery is subject to availability and an additional charge. It is not automatically included in the session.
Can you deliver the whole album on the same day?
I do not offer same-day delivery of a whole album as my standard service. If you need photographs for a presentation or announcement, explain the deadline before booking so I can advise whether a limited expedited selection is practical.
How will I receive the final photographs?
You will normally receive edited JPG files through an online download link. Download the files to your own device and check that the full set has arrived. Email delivery is not the standard method.
What size are the delivered photographs?
The standard final images are 2048 pixels on the longest side unless your package or written arrangement specifies otherwise. If you need larger files, commercial specifications or large prints, discuss the required dimensions before booking.
Are prints or physical albums included?
No. Standard delivery is digital.
How long does the download link remain available?
The delivery folder is temporary. Download promptly: files may be removed after you acknowledge receipt, or after the stated download period. My usual download period is three working days; follow the instructions sent with your link.
Can you recover my photographs months or years later?
I cannot promise permanent storage or recovery. Re-uploading depends on whether the files remain available and may incur a charge. Keep at least two independent copies of the delivered JPGs, such as one on your computer and another on a separate drive or cloud account.

Privacy & Using Your Photographs

Will you publish photographs from my session?
Selected photographs may be used for my portfolio and other agreed professional purposes unless a Privacy Buyout or another written restriction applies. Discuss privacy requirements before confirming your booking.
Can I keep my photographs private?
Yes. A paid Privacy Buyout is available under its stated terms. Tell me before booking so the privacy arrangement and cost can be confirmed.
Does a Privacy Buyout transfer copyright to me?
No. A Privacy Buyout concerns my publication and use of the covered photographs. Copyright ownership and your permitted uses are separate matters, as explained in the booking terms.
Can I post the photographs online or print them?
You may use the delivered photographs for the personal uses covered by your booking, such as sharing with friends or making personal prints. Different uses should be discussed in advance. Read the usage terms.
Can I use the photographs for my business or advertising?
Tell me the intended business use before booking, including websites, campaigns, publications or use by other organisations. A personal package should not be assumed to cover every commercial use; the agreed usage rights will determine what is included.
Can I edit, crop or add filters to the photographs?
Please ask before altering the delivered photographs, including adding filters or making significant crops. Changes can affect the lighting, colour and composition of the completed work. If you need a particular format or adjustment, discuss it with me.
Can I sell the photographs or give another company permission to use them?
No. Please obtain written permission for uses outside the rights agreed for your booking. Selling, licensing or supplying images for another organisation's use should be discussed separately.
Can you leave my name out of published work?
Tell me before booking if you have naming or anonymity requirements so we can agree on the arrangement. Leaving out a name does not provide the same privacy as keeping the photographs unpublished.

Communication & Further Help

What is the best way to contact you?
Use the website enquiry form and send the prepared WhatsApp message. The form helps you include the information I need. Preparing the message does not send it automatically; you must send it yourself.
Why have I not received a reply yet?
I work alone and may be photographing, editing or handling other bookings. Replies can take time. A polite follow-up is welcome; otherwise, I may mistake that you're no longer interested in my services.
Can we discuss the shoot over the phone?
I prefer written WhatsApp messages because they allow me to review your requirements carefully, verify the correct information and keep important arrangements clear for both of us. If a call would genuinely help, please arrange it with me in advance. You can read more about why I prefer written communication.
Can we meet before I book?
I prefer to clarify the requirements online first. If an in-person discussion is necessary, please arrange it with me; a consultation fee applies. Do not assume a meeting is included in a quotation.
Where can I find questions about my particular session?
Visit the relevant session page for questions about that type of photography. Start with portraits, events, interiors or real estate, or browse all sessions.
What if my question is not answered here?
Send me the question with the details of your intended shoot through the contact page. This FAQ provides general guidance; your agreed quotation, package and Service Agreement set out the terms for your booking.
