Hi, I'm Skai, a luxury photographer based in Singapore. My journey began with an obsession for art rather than making a living. I pursued photography on my own, without studying other commercial photographers, and for a time I was carefree.

When I first got together with my wife, reality struck and I began to panic about our future. My life coach, my "shi fu", Josephine Ong, guided me and changed my perspective. She awakened me when she asked if I wanted to work with high-ticket clients or the mass market. Knowing the quality of my work, she told me I was actually meant to serve people who value the very best. That moment reshaped my path.

I wasn't confident at all, having never checked the rates of other professional photographers. Yet I knew it was impossible for me to work with the mass market. Each project consumed immense effort and left me exhausted regardless of the payment. As an artist, I could only produce top-quality work — anything less would leave me blaming myself to the extent that I might as well have switched to a stable, higher-paying job using my degree. Instead, I chose to perfect my craft, not only in technical mastery but also in client care, assisting clients beyond what they had expected.

While I believe photography should be accessible to everyone, the sustainability of my work depends on collaborating with clients who truly appreciate the art. Photography is a team effort between the photographer and the client, and only through this partnership can the work thrive. While I never concerned myself with how others charged, I focused instead on ensuring my own effort was properly compensated.
