My portfolio sessions are available throughout Singapore, from controlled studio environments to outdoor and lifestyle settings. Once your shoot is confirmed, I'll help you select locations that suit the type of modelling work you're pursuing and the looks you want to create.

Lighting Options for Your Photoshoot

Off-camera flash is the included lighting approach for this session, providing deliberate control over the direction and balance of light.

• Included setup:

  The standard off-camera setup uses one light. Additional lights require more equipment and handling, and cost extra.

• Advance arrangement:

  The lighting setup must be planned before the shoot so that I can account for transport, setup time, space and venue restrictions.

• Practical fallback:

  If the location or conditions prevent the planned off-camera setup, I may use an on-camera speedlite instead, bouncing it from a suitable wall or ceiling where possible or using a larger flash modifier when there is no suitable surface.

A basic modelling portfolio should contain a headshot and a full body shot. The headshot must be good enough for the viewer to judge the model's looks. The full body shot is to show her overall build and body proportion, and thus the outfit should be kept as simple as possible.

Next, there should be some concepts to portray different personalities, such as sexy, sophisticated, stylish, sporty, quirky... etc.

The modelling portfolio for beginners need not be too complicated.

Men's modelling portfolio for a soccer player in one of the UK youth teams. It consists of an edgy fashion, soccer themed, fitness and half body shots.

Themed Modelling Portfolio

Versatility and open-mindedness will expose you to more job opportunities. Therefore, it's good to build up more varieties of work in your modelling portfolio.

   Glamour photoshoots are similar to sexy fashion photoshoots, which have a fine line between them. Glamour photoshoots focus more on displaying the body of the model. They help to bring out the sensuality of the model. They usually attract hobbyist photographers.

   Bikini photoshoot is one of the most highly sought genres by hobbyist photographers. The popularity of bikini photoshoots is due to the large amount of skin that models reveal, yet at the same time, more acceptable by most conservative models as compared to lingerie photoshoots. The modelling rates are higher than the usual outdoor photoshoots but lower than lingerie photoshoots.
   
   Bikini model portfolios are very useful to professional models since it reveals their body shape so that potential clients can judge them properly.
   
   A bikini photoshoot is usually done at the beach or swimming pool, or even hotel room (which I'm not a fan of).

   A lingerie model portfolio is common for professional models. Models who own lingerie portfolios are usually more versatile and can do more varieties of genres. They are usually more confident and thus are more natural in front of the lens. That means working with them on any fashion photoshoot will likely have better results.
   
   Similar to a bikini model portfolio, the lingerie portfolio also allows potential clients to judge the model's body shape properly for the specific looks they are looking for.
   
   Of course, lingerie models can command higher rates.

8. Boudoir model portfolio

   
   
   Boudoir photoshoots are similar to lingerie photoshoots, except that they are usually done in settings, such as a hotel room or bedroom. However, depending on the concept and agreement, it may involve implied nudity. For example, the model may be topless and lying on the bed so that her private parts won't be revealed.

   Art models are well sought by hobbyist photographers who want to create artwork. Since it's usually exposing a lot of skin, the modelling rates that the art models are being paid are usually the highest.

Model photography is photography in which the person is photographed specifically in the role of a model. It can be used by new or experienced models to build or update a portfolio, practise working in front of the camera, explore different looks, create photographs for personal projects or produce images for particular modelling opportunities.

The photographic style can vary considerably depending on what the model needs. A session might include clean and relatively simple portraits, full-body photographs, fashion looks, beauty images, lifestyle photographs or more creative and editorial concepts. For someone developing a modelling portfolio, creating useful variety can be more valuable than producing many photographs that all show the same expression, outfit and photographic style.

Model photography overlaps strongly with Portfolio Photography and fashion photography, but they aren't exactly the same. A portfolio can be created for many professions besides modelling, while fashion photography places greater emphasis on the clothing and styling being presented. In model photography, I pay particular attention to how the model themselves performs and appears in front of the camera, including their posing, expressions, movement and ability to adapt between different looks.

Experience levels can also vary enormously. An experienced model may move between poses with relatively little direction, while someone completely new to modelling may need much more guidance on posture, hand placement, facial expression, body angles and movement. I adapt the amount of direction I provide rather than expecting every person who wants modelling photographs to already know how to pose professionally.

Photographic requirements should also be considered according to how the images will actually be used. A polished fashion or beauty photograph serves a different purpose from simple photographs requested for casting or agency assessment. If a model needs photographs for a specific agency, casting or submission, I would rather work from the actual requirements than assume that one standard set of photographs is suitable for every situation.

For me, good model photography isn't simply about making someone look attractive. If the photographs are intended to support modelling work, they should also show what the model can offer in front of the camera. That can include different expressions, poses, body language and styles, while the photography, lighting and styling should support rather than overwhelm the person being presented.
