About Skai – Photography That Empowers and Connects
I'm not just a photographer—I'm a storyteller, a cheerleader, and a believer in the power of meaningful images to uplift and transform.

Introduction
Hi there! I'm Skai, a 100% Singapore-born Chinese freelance photographer based in sunny Singapore. My languages are English, Chinese Mandarin and cold humour. I dread formality. I'm an IT graduate, but the certificate's only purpose is to show off to nobody. As an introvert, I don't seek the spotlight—but I do strive to shine it on others, crafting images that speak to their stories with honesty and care.
I'm an artist who helps people to improve their lives. I document special moments that will be treasured for years to come and personalise impactful and meaningful pictures, for businesses and individuals, for keepsakes and to attract potential customers or even dates.
My appreciative and generous clients hire me primarily for portraiture, event and party, and interior photography.
I've dedicated an extensive amount of time to curating my website, meticulously showcasing all my completed portrait work. I aim to assist individuals directly while inspiring and educating the broader online community. Would you join me in this endeavour to make a meaningful impact together?
My Story
Helping others helped me find myself.
I didn't set out to become a photographer. I started with a simple, sentimental impulse: to record moments before they slipped away. I've always had a soft heart and a forgetful mind—so photography became my way of holding onto what matters. But somewhere along the way, it stopped being just for me.
A colleague once joked she was "getting old". But I saw something luminous—something worth celebrating. I felt compelled to show her. That moment changed everything. I didn't reach for my camera to impress—I reached for it to uplift. To reflect the strength, beauty, and presence that people often forget they carry. I've been doing it ever since.
I practised obsessively, not for perfection, but for purpose. I helped friends, strangers, and anyone willing to trust me with their story. I didn't realise I was building a career—I was just chasing the joy of helping people feel seen.
Then one day, while updating my website, it hit me: every shoot, every edit, every late-night brainstorm had one thing in common. I was helping. Helping people feel confident. Helping them build their brand. Helping them document their growth, their grit, their glow. It was never about the camera—it was about connection.
Call it naïve. Call it ambitious. I call it mine. Photography became my way of giving back—of building spaces where people could feel powerful, present, and real. And in offering that to others, I found something unexpected: clarity, purpose, and a quiet kind of healing.
What Sets Me Apart
I do this because I care—not because I have to.
Photography isn't just a job to me—it's a calling. I didn't get into this to chase trends or rack up bookings. I started because I wanted to help people feel good about themselves. And I stayed because I saw how powerful that impact could be.
I'm sentimental by nature, with a not-so-great memory—so I believe in recording moments that matter. But more than that, I believe in helping people see themselves with clarity, confidence, and kindness. That's why I go all out to make my clients feel safe, respected, and uplifted.
I don't take shortcuts. I don't upsell for the sake of profit. I don't accept every job. I choose to work with people who value meaning, mutual respect, and emotional depth—because that's where the magic happens.
If you're looking for someone who's just here to "get the shot", I'm probably not the right fit.
But if you're looking for someone who sees photography as a way to empower, connect, and transform—then I'd love to work with you.

Who I Work With Best
If you've taken the time to explore this site, you're already my kind of person.
I work best with clients who are curious, intentional, and respectful—people who bother to read, reflect, and understand before reaching out. This website isn't just a portfolio; it's the result of thousands of hours of refinement, built to help you make an informed, confident decision. I don't do things halfway, and I appreciate those who don't either.
Freelance photography is more complex than it looks. Every photographer works differently—our pricing, our process, our philosophy. That's why I value clients who take the time to understand how I work before messaging me. It's not about gatekeeping; it's about mutual respect. When someone reaches out with clarity and care, I already know we're off to a good start.
I choose my clients as carefully as they choose me. Because good photography isn't just about skill—it's about synergy.
If you've read this far, thank you. You're likely someone who values depth, clarity, and collaboration. And that's exactly who I love working with.
Behind the Scenes
Empathy, intuition, and quiet precision.
I'm not just a photographer—I'm a people person. I go all out to make others feel comfortable, even if it means putting myself down to lift someone up. You could call me a people pleaser, but my intention is pure: I want you to feel good, safe, and seen. I don't do this for praise or profit—I do it because I believe everyone deserves to feel confident in their own skin.
Before the camera even comes out, I'm already tuning in. I use a TCM-inspired approach to understand you—not through awkward questions, but through casual, intuitive conversation. I listen between the lines. I notice what's unsaid. And often, I uncover details that turn a good shoot into a meaningful one.
I don't accept jobs blindly. I take time to understand what you truly want—even if you haven't fully figured it out yet. That extra effort helps me anticipate problems before they happen, reducing the risk of awkward moments or missed expectations. Sometimes I joke that I feel like Dr. Strange, scanning for outcomes—but really, it's just care, experience, and emotional intelligence at work.
During the shoot, I guide with words—not touch. I respect your space, your boundaries, and your energy. My posing style leans toward lifestyle and casual, so nothing feels stiff or staged. When you feel safe, you relax. And when you relax, the photos come alive.
I've also built this website to support you long before we meet. From how I structure my packages to how I write my FAQs, everything is designed to help you feel informed, empowered, and respected.
Because when you feel seen, the photos speak for themselves.
Portfolio & Impact
Real people. Real stories. Real change.
My portfolio isn't just a gallery—it's a reflection of lives touched, confidence rebuilt, and stories honoured. Every image you'll see was created with intention, trust, and emotional clarity.
I've worked with people from all walks of life:
- Aspiring talents who needed professional-grade photos to launch their journey
- Everyday individuals who never saw themselves as "photogenic" until they saw their own portraits
- Clients who came in nervous and left feeling powerful, grounded, and proud
Some came for branding. Some came for healing. Some came just to try something new. But all left with more than just photos—they left with a shift in how they saw themselves.
I don't chase trends or filters. I chase truth.
And when clients feel safe, respected, and understood, the impact goes far beyond the frame.
