If you value my work, discover the ways to help me continue. Your support can make a difference to both the photography I create and the person behind it.
Ways to Support My Photography
If you enjoy my photographs or find my photography guides useful, thank you. This page brings together ways to support my work beyond booking a session, from referring someone who may appreciate my approach and writing an honest review to sharing a useful guide or buying me a coffee.
Some gestures cost nothing and take only a few minutes. Others, such as offering equipment or lending a venue, involve more discussion. Choose whichever feels comfortable and relevant to you; enjoying my work does not create an obligation to do anything in return.
Book a Photography Session
If you need photographs and my approach suits what you have in mind, booking a session is one of the most direct ways to support my work. Paid assignments support my livelihood and cover the time, equipment and resources involved in providing photography.
A session also gives me the opportunity to get to know you. If you are here because you want to support my work, I appreciate that kindness. Getting to know considerate people and working together to create photographs can brighten my days and give me fresh motivation to continue with photography.
Not every enquiry leads to a booking, and I understand that people need time to explore their options. However, some enquiries involve considerable discussion without a serious intention to proceed, which can be draining for a solo photographer. A thoughtful enquiry from someone who values my work helps balance those experiences, even before the session begins.
If someone you know needs photography and may appreciate my style, sharing my portfolio is a helpful starting point. They can look through my work and decide whether my approach suits what they have in mind.
A useful introduction connects people with suitable expectations. My photography involves planning, working with the person and paying attention to lighting, so it helps when someone values that process as well as the final photographs.
You do not need to explain my packages or promise anything on my behalf. Share my website and let them enquire directly through my contact page. My guide on how to refer clients to me explains this in more detail.
Write an Honest Review
If you have worked with me, an honest review helps others understand what the experience was like. My existing client reviews give potential clients a perspective beyond the photographs in my portfolio.
You can describe the type of session you booked, how the planning and photography went, and what you thought of the final photographs. Specific details are useful, but a short review in your own words is welcome too. There is no need to use photography terms or make the experience sound perfect.
You can follow my Instagram and Facebook accounts, both under @skaichanphotography, to see my photographs and updates.
When something interests you, a like, comment or share is appreciated. I also enjoy hearing what caught your attention, whether it was the lighting, the setting or a moment in the photograph. You do not need to comment on every post or offer praise you do not mean.
Share My Photographs or Guides
If we have worked together and you feel comfortable sharing your photographs, tagging my account and crediting me in the caption helps others find the photographer behind them. A few words about your experience can also help someone decide whether to explore a photography session with me.
Please use the delivered photographs without adding filters or changing the editing. The colours and lighting are part of how I intended the finished work to look.
You can also share a link to a gallery or one of my photography guides with someone who may find it useful. Sharing a link lets them explore the original work and its context directly.
Buy Me a Coffee
If a guide has helped you or you enjoy the work I share, you can offer a small contribution through Buy Me a Coffee. It is another way to support the time I put into creating photographs, writing guides and maintaining this website.
This is entirely optional. My freely available guides remain available whether or not you contribute, and a contribution is separate from booking a photography session or arranging sponsorship.
Introduce Suitable Volunteer Models
Occasionally, I collaborate with friends, volunteer models and makeup artists to explore a creative idea or produce photographs for educational purposes. These projects are infrequent; sometimes I may do one in a year, and in some years none at all.
When a project requires someone to photograph, an introduction to a suitable volunteer model can help. Suitability depends on the particular concept, along with reliability, communication and willingness to take part in the agreed creative process.
Please check with the person before introducing them. An introduction does not guarantee a collaboration, and these occasional projects are separate from paid photography sessions.
Offer Equipment or Other Photography Resources
Useful support can include photography equipment, clothing or accessories suited to a particular shoot. An item does not need to be expensive to be helpful, but it should fit my working setup or a project I am planning.
Please discuss an idea with me before purchasing or sending anything. This gives us a chance to check whether it is suitable and whether you are offering a gift, a loan or sponsorship with something expected in return.
You can contact me to discuss an arrangement. If you expect publicity, photographs or other deliverables, please explain this at the outset so we can agree on what is involved.
Offer a Suitable Photoshoot Venue
Friends have kindly lent me their homes, gyms and cafés for past photoshoots. Access to a suitable space can make a particular idea possible, especially when the surroundings contribute to the photographs.
If you have a venue you would be comfortable offering, let me know what the space is like and when it may be available. We would need to discuss permission, privacy, access, equipment and how the shoot could take place without disrupting the people who use it.
A private space that could be used regularly as a portrait studio would be particularly helpful. However, even a venue available for a single suitable project can make a difference.
Link to My Website or a Useful Guide
If you run a website or blog and my work is relevant to your readers, you are welcome to link to Skai Chan Photography. You can also link directly to a gallery or article that supports something you are discussing.
A useful link gives readers a clear reason to visit, such as seeing photographs from a particular location or finding advice for their own session. There is no need to arrange a link exchange to support my work.
Why Your Support Matters to Me
I work as a solo photographer, so planning sessions, creating photographs, editing and maintaining this website all take my time. I prefer to give each project the attention it needs, which limits how much work I can take on.
A thoughtful referral, an honest review or a shared guide can introduce my work to someone I would otherwise never reach. Friends who have offered their spaces for shoots have helped me create photographs in settings I could not simply provide myself. Financial contributions and suitable resources can also support the work that goes on behind the finished photographs.
I appreciate the people who book me, recommend me, read my guides or quietly follow what I create. If you choose to offer further support, thank you for helping me continue this work.
