Derrick and Eunice's couple shoot in the studio was a memorable and eventful experience, starting with Derrick's surprise wedding proposal that he had booked me for. The session was designed to capture the proposal as well as a couple shoot afterwards, and Derrick's initial plan was to propose at Pinnacle@Duxton's fiftieth sky park. However, considering the unpredictable weather conditions, including rain and strong winds, I advised him against it. He followed my recommendation and decided on a studio instead.

Since Derrick had arranged for a professional backdrop to be set up in the studio, we made full use of it during the couple shoot. Although I was personally interested in exploring different parts of the studio, I understood that the significance of the shoot outweighed my curiosity.

One of the challenges I faced was working with the available studio lighting. There were two continuous lights and two strobes, but I noticed that the stronger 600-watt strobe had physical damage, so I chose not to touch it. Instead, I paired the 400-watt strobe with the two continuous lights. Additionally, since the backdrop came with fairy lights that weren't exceptionally bright, I had to ensure that any additional lighting I used wouldn't overpower them, as it would undermine the purpose of Derrick paying for the backdrop.

Using continuous lights for a studio shoot was a new experience for me, but I embraced the opportunity as it allowed me to educate more people about this lighting technique through the resulting photos. However, the most worrisome issue arose when I discovered that my main lens, the Canon 24-70mm f2.8L II, was damaged. Thankfully, professional photographers always bring backup lenses, so I quickly switched to my 16-35mm F4L lens. Although it wasn't my preferred focal length for portraits, it had the advantage of image stabilization, which proved useful in the situation.

Unfortunately, I wasn't in the best physical condition on that day, as I had been dealing with digestive problems since morning. Due to the unexpected challenges with the lens and lighting setup, I became engrossed in testing and neglected the lunchbox I had brought along, choosing to prioritise the shoot instead.

Throughout the session, I was amazed by Derrick's stunning appearance and charismatic presence. He exuded a celebrity-like aura. Eunice, on the other hand, was cute and lovely, complementing Derrick perfectly. Their chemistry as a couple was evident, and they effortlessly produced beautiful moments for the camera.

I felt immensely grateful for the opportunity to capture their love and document such a significant chapter in their lives. Despite the challenges I faced with the lighting and lens, their natural charm and Derrick's creative posing ideas elevated the shoot to new heights.

In the end, I was deeply appreciative of the chance to be a part of Derrick and Eunice's couple shoot. It was a memorable experience that showcased their love and allowed me to overcome obstacles, grow as a photographer, and deliver exceptional photos.

As I meticulously went through the album, carefully selecting the pictures to be uploaded, a genuine smile adorned my face. I couldn't help but imagine the joy that Derrick and Eunice would experience as they revisited their special moments together through the album.

I spent hours uploading every album, and I hope they will inspire you.

Most of the people featured in my portfolio are everyday people rather than professional models. They may have started out with the same concerns many clients have: feeling camera-shy, unsure how to pose, or worried that they aren't photogenic. If they can look good in photographs, so can you.

Whether you're looking for photographs for yourself, your family, your business, or a special occasion, I'd be happy to discuss your ideas. If privacy is important to you, I also offer a Privacy Buyout option for eligible sessions.
