I keep photography affordable by including what the session genuinely needs instead of automatically building every possible service into the package. Most of my Essential packages use natural or available light, for example, without the additional equipment and setup time required for off-camera flash photography.
Planning can usually be completed efficiently through online communication, so an in-person coffee consultation is not included by default. This reduces the time and cost involved without removing the preparation, direction, photography and editing needed for the agreed session.
If you need off-camera lighting, an in-person consultation or another service outside the package, you can arrange it as an add-on where available. This keeps the starting price accessible while allowing you to pay for the additional production work that is useful for your particular goals.

I photograph clients throughout Singapore and can recommend a suitable location based on your photography goals, preferred style, and budget. For simpler sessions, using an existing location can help keep the shoot focused without adding unnecessary venue costs.
Lighting Options for Your Photoshoot
The lighting approach is determined by the package you choose. The more basic option uses natural or available light, while other packages may include off-camera flash.
- Natural or available light:
Natural-light packages use suitable daylight or existing light at the location and usually allow us to move between positions with less setup time. If the conditions require additional support, I may use an on-camera speedlite, normally bounced from a suitable wall or ceiling.
- Off-camera flash:
You can choose a package that includes off-camera flash or arrange it as a paid add-on where offered. The standard setup uses one light; additional lights cost extra.
- Advance arrangement:
Off-camera flash must be arranged before the shoot so that I can plan the equipment, timing and location requirements. If conditions prevent the planned setup, I may use an on-camera speedlite instead, bouncing it from a suitable wall or ceiling where possible or using a larger flash modifier when there is no suitable surface.

For me, it means providing professional photography at a more accessible price by keeping the approach simpler and focusing the budget on what matters most to the client. It isn't about deliberately producing lower-quality work or cutting corners without telling the client.
Different photoshoots require different levels of preparation, equipment, lighting and post-production. A straightforward portrait session using suitable natural or available light, for example, can cost less than a more elaborate setup involving professional off-camera lighting, additional equipment and more advanced post-production. This is why I separate my more affordable Professional Photography from my more elaborate High-End Photography.
One challenge with the word "affordable" is that everyone has a different budget. What seems affordable to one person may be expensive to another, and professional photography still involves time before, during and after the actual photoshoot. Instead of trying to be the cheapest photographer in Singapore, I prefer to keep my rates transparent and offer different levels of photography so that clients can understand what they're paying for.
For me, affordable photography is therefore about finding a sensible balance between the client's needs, budget and the amount of work required. If a simpler photography approach can achieve what the client needs, I don't believe everyone has to pay for a more complicated setup. At the same time, I don't want to promise high-end production while charging a budget rate that doesn't realistically support the work involved.
