Hello! I'm Skai. I help musicians and hobbyists capture their moments - for branding or simply for memory - so they look professional and feel celebrated. I'm a professional music portrait photographer based in sunny Singapore.

One of my childhood dreams was to learn the piano. But growing up in a struggling family, owning a piano - let alone paying for lessons - was out of reach. Back then, there was no internet or YouTube for free self-learning. My very first piano experience came when my mum’s boss’ daughter gave me a short lesson - imagine a kindergarten kid teaching another.

Life soon placed bigger challenges before me, and I carried on with low self-esteem, eventually giving up the idea entirely. Even today, I still consider myself tone deaf, and my wife often laughs at my "bathroom singing" with wrong lyrics and off-key tones.

But I’ve found another way to contribute to the music world: through photography. Instead of creating music, I capture it visually. I could never take my eyes off musical instruments - their forms and their ability to produce such varied sounds always amazed me. Over time, I grew to love them visually, and photography became my way of getting closer to them, especially the piano and guitar.

Along the way, I’ve met wonderful musicians whose personalities shine, though I can’t judge their technical skill. I’ve also met non-musicians who simply love music - people who may never perform on stage, or who sometimes produce a "zap" sound while tinkering with their instruments. They remind me that music is about healing and self-expression, not perfection.

Through photography, I’m thankful for the chance to celebrate these people and their passion. Each portrait is more than an image - it’s a reflection of the joy, resilience, and character that music brings into our lives.
