Music Piano Photoshoot with Jun Hao

Jun Hao's shoot had multiple sets to work through, so the prep took a fair bit of back-and-forth. But from the get-go, he was incredibly cooperative, which made it much smoother to translate ideas into reality. That kind of relaxed, open energy makes all the difference on a shoot with this many moving parts

We began at his house because the first set focused on him with his piano. And before anything else, let me just say—Jun Hao's hospitality stood out. He actually came to pick me up from the bus stop, which already said a lot about the kind of person he is. Genuine, humble, and very thoughtful.

Before we even got started, Jun Hao handed me a small bag of snacks he and his sister had brought back from overseas. I had to laugh—it felt less like the start of a shoot and more like catching up with an old friend. That simple, thoughtful gesture said everything: I was truly welcomed.

His home didn't look like a styled set—and honestly, that was the beauty of it. It had a heart. The kind of place that feels real, comfortable, and personal. That genuine quality gave the images more meaning. I asked him to play a little, just to get into the rhythm, and observed how naturally he connected with the instrument. The posing flowed from there—gentle, unscripted, true to him.

With limited space and no styled corners to rely on, finding the right light and angles became the real puzzle. But that constraint turned out to be a gift—it made me more intentional. And the reward? Images that didn't just show his skill at the piano, but revealed something honest beneath it.
