A one-hour session is a duration option for a focused brief, such as a professional headshot or a small collection of portraits for one clear purpose. It works best when we agree on the priorities beforehand and use one suitable location without trying to compress the scope of a much longer production.
I provide direction for posing and expression throughout the shoot, while allowing time to review and refine what we are creating. The lighting approach, preparation and pace are planned around the selected package rather than changed repeatedly during the hour.
If you need several outfits, locations, elaborate setups or room to explore unrelated ideas, I will recommend more time. The useful measure is not how many times I can press the shutter, but whether the session gives us enough time to create the photographs that serve your purpose well.

Where We Can Shoot
A one-hour photography session can take place at various indoor and outdoor locations across Singapore. However, choosing the right location is especially important when time is limited.
I generally recommend focusing on one suitable location rather than travelling between multiple places. The ideal setting should complement your photography goals while allowing enough time for posing, lighting adjustments and creating different photographs.
Important: Travelling between locations, changing outfits and adjusting lighting all take time away from photography. For a one-hour session, I recommend prioritising one location with a few suitable backgrounds. Venue charges, photography permits and additional lighting requirements may also affect the overall cost.
Lighting Options for Your Photoshoot
Lighting affects both the appearance of the photographs and the time available for shooting. Natural or available light generally requires less setup. Off-camera flash can provide greater control, but equipment setup, testing and adjustments take time and may involve a higher-priced package.
The lighting approach is determined by the package you choose. The more basic option uses natural or available light, while other packages may include off-camera flash.
- Natural or available light:
Natural-light packages use suitable daylight or existing light at the location and usually allow us to move between positions with less setup time. If the conditions require additional support, I may use an on-camera speedlite, normally bounced from a suitable wall or ceiling.
- Off-camera flash:
You can choose a package that includes off-camera flash or arrange it as a paid add-on where offered. The standard setup uses one light; additional lights cost extra.
- Advance arrangement:
Off-camera flash must be arranged before the shoot so that I can plan the equipment, timing and location requirements. If conditions prevent the planned setup, I may use an on-camera speedlite instead, bouncing it from a suitable wall or ceiling where possible or using a larger flash modifier when there is no suitable surface.

Every project is unique. These figures represent typical starting rates, while the final price is tailored to your specific goals, requirements, and level of customisation.
A shorter booking does not necessarily mean a proportionately lower price. Consultation, planning, equipment preparation, travel and post-production are still involved even when the photography itself lasts only one hour.
The suitable package depends on the type of photography, lighting approach, number of final photographs and other requirements. Venue, transport and optional services may incur additional charges where applicable. Off-camera flash is not automatically included in a basic natural-light package.

My Approach to One-Hour Photography
Earlier in my photography career, I was reluctant to accept one-hour assignments. The photography itself might take only an hour, but the preparation, communication, travel and post-production often take much longer. Short sessions can also limit the time available to build rapport and explore creative ideas.
Over time, I realised that some clients genuinely need only one carefully created headshot or a few photographs for a specific purpose. Asking them to book several hours would not necessarily serve their needs.
I therefore adjusted my pricing approach, including a higher effective rate for the first hour, to make shorter assignments more sustainable without treating them as rushed or lesser-quality work.
Equally important is explaining the limitations in advance. I would rather recommend a longer session when it is genuinely needed than promise more than we can reasonably achieve in an hour.
My goal is to create meaningful photographs that serve your purpose, whether you book a short session or a more elaborate one.

A one-hour photography session is a focused booking, not a guarantee of a particular number of poses, outfits, settings or final images. The photography duration is only one part of the work involved; image selection and post-production take place afterwards.
