Editorial Photoshoot with Ms Ng's Learning Academy

Ms Ng's Learning Academy, located in Serangoon, was the setting for this project. I first met up with Kaiser, who kindly drove us to the tuition centre. One of the good things about working with Kaiser is that he appreciates my work and gives me the freedom to create — that trust made the session smoother.

The shoot was for his clients, and interestingly, both of the business owners share the same surname: Ms Ng. My first challenge was navigating the environment, as different students were scattered across various classrooms. The tutors had allowed them to use the space outside tuition hours, so it took me some time to figure out the flow of activity. Some students were shy, while others were very active, but overall they seemed to enjoy themselves at the centre.

Another challenge was the limited space due to the layout and furniture. On top of that, the business owners' focus was strongly academic, so we didn't have the luxury of polished, high‑end backgrounds. Still, with their trust and full cooperation, I was able to make use of every resource available and adapt creatively to the environment.

The result was a set of portraits that reflected the academy's authentic atmosphere — lively, academic, and grounded in the real experiences of its students.
