While planning the shoot with Michael, we agreed to include a proper corporate headshot—something clean and professional for his business profiles. Since this trip to Singapore was work-related, it made perfect sense to preserve a memory of this chapter too. I told him honestly that we might not have enough time for a full formal setup, but he was incredibly understanding from the start. His wisdom and calm nature helped keep things smooth—I never felt the need to overexplain anything.

We decided to use the hotel room's windows. It was the most practical choice, and with the right angles, it could produce something really polished. That said, balancing the light was a real challenge. The sunlight coming through the windows was intense—it risked blowing out the background entirely. But I didn't want to lose the context outside the window, which helped anchor the image in this moment of his life.

So, I underexposed the background slightly to retain the details, then bounced some flash gently to bring back light to his face. It was a quick adjustment, but one that made all the difference.

Despite the tight conditions, everything came together nicely. Michael stayed composed throughout, and I could feel that he trusted the process. The final shots were clean, confident, and natural—exactly what he needed, without forcing anything. It was a good reminder that the best portraits sometimes come from simply working with what you have and keeping the energy honest.
