Night Car Photoshoot with Yonghao
Listed in portrait category: Automotive | Night Portrait

Before saying goodbye to his beloved car, Yonghao wanted to honour the moment with a photoshoot. What began as a simple gesture became something deeper. Though his original location fell through, we moved to a quiet carpark that I planned for the night shoot. It held just the right stillness for what the moment needed—a space to reflect, remember, and release.
True to his nature, Yonghao came dressed in his usual bright shirt, something I believed he often wore partly for safety reasons on the road. It added a touch of authenticity to the session since he wanted to keep everything true to who he was, rather than dressing up in something he normally wouldn’t wear. This choice brought a sense of genuineness to the shoot—it wasn’t just about the car, but about capturing Yonghao as he really is.
To shape the mood, I set up two off-camera flashes—playing with shadow while keeping the overall balance intact. The interplay of light and shade added dimension to the frames, giving both Yonghao and his car a striking presence against the clean lines of the carpark. The session unfolded with quiet ease, yet carried deep emotional weight. It wasn’t just a shoot—it was a way of preserving the bond between man and machine before parting ways.
