#3 Pre-Wedding/ Bridal Photography
Pre-wedding photography is usually done before the actual day wedding banquet of a couple. The couple would then print an album using the wedding photographs to showcase to the guests. Of course, some couple may post the photographs on their social media accounts as well.
Wedding photography can also be done by a solo lady. Some ladies who are single may want to experience doing a bridal photoshoot on her own. It's just like how some ladies would want to do a fashion or even boudoir photoshoot. It doesn't mean they won't be doing an official pre-wedding photoshoot with their future partners before their marriages.
Wedding photoshoots can be done at any place of the couples' choices, such as forest, park, reservoir, tourists' attraction, street, airport, hotel, home, restaurant, photography studio... etc.
I hope more locals would choose to do their pre-wedding photoshoot in Singapore instead of overseas because Singapore does have many nice sceneries as well.
#4 You Deserve These for your Wedding Photos
I prefer doing creative concepts, which is more fun, interesting and definitely more unique. However, it depends on the couples to take up challenges. I also encourage couples to do concepts that would link to their lifestyles so that the photographs would be more meaningful.
I always try to set up my lighting whenever possible, so that my work would stand out from others'. I work on soft light and also add impacts to the photographs. I try to show the details on the sky to make the photographs look more interesting. Below are some of the reasons why you should work with me on your ideal pre-wedding shoot.

I. Flattery | You want to look really beautiful, don't you?
Every bride wants to look beautiful in the most special photo album of her life. Just by hiring a good professional hair and makeup artist (HMUA) to style you up isn't enough - you will also need a very good photographer as well.
A professional photographer needs to have the photography equipment, knowledge and experience to create soft light to make you look pleasing. One of the toughest things is to carry the bulky and heavy equipment along for the photoshoot. It takes time and effort to set up and test for the correct lighting, which is why most of the outdoor wedding photoshoots that you get to see in the public won't include large softboxes. If you're lucky, the ambient light may be very good; however, we can't simply count on luck to create beautiful photographs. Besides, without professional equipment, there are certain angles you can't be captured in, such as in backlight situations (main light is at the back of the subjects).
In photography, lighting is extremely important to make the subject(s) look beautiful and soft, and this makes my work extremely different from most other photographers' - I'm always trying my best to produce the best light possible, even at the expense of injuries for carrying the heavy equipment along.
During my post-production, I try my best to make the skin look natural, which requires lots of extra time and effort. There are times when I take three hours just to edit a photograph. In contrast, I often see photographs online with the subjects look fake like plastic - this is due to overediting - an easy way to remove the flaws on the skin, which is more efficient for photographers to speed up the work.

This photograph of Hilary Tay was taken in the late morning, almost an hour to noon. We were extremely lucky that it was a cloudy day and thus my 600-watt strobe could overcome the sunlight to produce flattering light. However, the biggest challenge I faced was the constantly changing ambient light due to the moving clouds that allowed different amount of sunlight to reach us.
This photograph of Sharon Ng was taken in the evening when the sun was about to set. The sunlight was rather harsh for the timing as the sky was clear. I managed to add my artificial light to bring down the ambient light while making Sharon look good.
This photograph of Ayumi was taken in the mid morning and unfortunately, the sky was clear and thus the sunlight was extremely harsh. I managed to find a sheltered spot to reduce the ambient light using my 600-watt strobe while a thin layer of cloud happened to block the direct sun.
This photograph of Hilary Tay was taken in the late afternoon. The weather was good and thus I was able to create the beautiful effect with the focus on Hilary with the aid of my strobe.
This photograph of Ivia Xiao Hui was taken in the late morning. The sunlight was harsh most of the time but I managed to keep the ambient light down with the aid of my strobe.
This photograph of Jessyca Ang was taken in the late afternoon. The ambient light was soft enough to capture this.
II. Focus | You are the focus, you want viewers to identify you
I often crack a joke when I see photographs of the main subject appearing small - I would say I'm actually the person inside.
While scenery is important, you want people to know that you're the person inside the photograph. Therefore, my style is to make sure the subject fills a certain portion of the frame, so that he/she can be identified by the viewers. Or otherwise, why don't you go online to find some existing photographs instead, so that you can be "flown" to any part of the world that you want?
My shooting style is a bad thing for photographers because the closer you get to the lens, the more flaws would be shown and the more editing work has to be done. I assume this is one reason why some photographers can afford to charge lower rates, especially for overseas shoots that they tend to focus more on the sceneries than the couples - less editing work.
This photograph of Wei Loong and Shujuan was taken towards the late morning using natural light. The sun was extremely hot and we managed to find this spot to capture this photograph where the backlighting helped to create a rim of head light while the angle didn't affect the clarity too much. We wanted to make use of the lalangs. The left of the photograph was very bright due to the open sky while the back and right side were trees - the best option at this situation was to focus on the couple.
This photograph of Ridhwan and Ashikin was taken in the late afternoon using natural light. The lighting was unusually harsh for the timing. The surrounding was rather boring and there were many other people around. We didn't have the luxury of time since the actual day wedding was ongoing. Hence, I went for a close-up shot with the "clean" building and trees to block the direct sunlight.
This photograph of Nathaniel and Rachel was taken in the late morning before rushing off for their wedding tea ceremony. The lighting wasn't good due to the gaps between the tree branches and leaves that cast weird shadows around. The interaction between the couple was great and thus I went for a close-up shot.
This photograph of Shinyi was taken in the late morning. The ambient light was bad due to the cloudless sky but I abused my 600-watt light to dim down the ambient light while keeping Shinyi beautifully lighted up. The goal of this photograph was to showcase the urban background with Shinyi in the "middle" to create a stunning effect. I positioned her at this distance from my lens so that she would appear large enough since she's the main subject after all.
This photograph of Khin was taken in the late afternoon using natural light as requested. The sun was furious but we made use of the side of the temple for this photograph where Khin was sheltered. Since she's the main subject, I framed her in a large portion of the photograph.
III. Beautiful background | While background is important, keep them pleasant
You go for an outdoor shoot so that you can incorporate the beautiful sceneries into your photographs. Therefore, doing too much of a bokeh (background blur) effect doesn't justify the effort - you might as well just do the shoot with a plain background like black or white backdrop in a studio with proper air-conditioning and relaxing environment. You can then take a seat to rest at any point of time and you don't even have to walk.
While using the beautiful background to make every photograph interesting, I make sure they don't take away the focus of the subjects. One important factor of the background is the exposure and I always try to make sure the brightness is well controlled. This is possible with the use of my professional lighting in most situations.
This photograph of Hilary Tay was done in the late morning, nearly one and half hour to noon time. The white building would bounce off much more sunlight than Hilary's face while the sky would be even brighter. Given such situation, if I were to depend solely on natural light, (1) I could get Hilary's face properly lighted up but the sky and building would be overexposed; or otherwise, (2) I could keep the sky and building's exposure perfect as shown in the photograph but Hilary's face would be dark. We were extremely lucky that it was a cloudy day and thus my 600-watt strobe could not only overcome the sunlight but also produce soft light.
This photograph of Ivia Xiao Hui was done in the late morning. The sky was, most of the time, clear and thus giving us problems. The tree branches and leaves managed to help to keep away some of the light, but at the same time, cast unflattering shadows. It was a game of patience together as we made good use of the short duration whenever some small clouds managed block the sun from hitting us directly. I reduced the ambient light with the help of my 600-watt strobe so that the background would not be very glaring, as of the actual situation, to distract viewers from the main subject - Ivia.
This photograph of Leslie and Sally was taken in the afternoon after their wedding. I used my strobe to create this dramatic effect. Besides, my beauty dish was able to produce better lighting than the actual sunlight.
This photograph of Leslie and Sally was taken in the morning before their wedding. Since the sunlight came from the back of the building, I had limited choices and thus I chose the correct exposure for the building over the details of the sky. Therefore, I carefully dimmed down the ambient light for the building before using my strobe to light up the couple beautifully. There's a choice to further dim down the ambient light, such that the building would be much darker and there would be slightly more details to be shown in the sky, but I didn't want it to be too dramatic for this shot.
This photograph of Melanie was taken in the late morning. The sun was harsh but I managed to dim down the ambient light by abusing my 600-watt strobe. The greenery at the back was much brighter but I didn't want them to distract the viewers from admiring the main subject - Melanie.
IV. Details in sky | Sky is beautiful, you are beautiful too
In order to capture the details of the sky while having your face properly and beautifully lighted up, you will need to use soft artificial lighting.
A photographer can depend solely on ambient light and then "PhotoShop" the sky but the result likely won't be as natural as a professional work. A photographer can use a bare speedlite, which is extremely portable, but the lighting won't be flattering on your face. What I do is, whenever possible, set up big light modifier(s) so that your face will be lighted up properly and beautifully, with the details of the sky being shown.
This photograph of David and Jess was taken in the late afternoon after their wedding. It was an impromptu shoot and I was glad that David was cool enough to step into the wet area. I fired flash using a speedlite mounted on top of my camera, with a light modifier attached. Thus I was able to keep the detail of the beautiful sky.
This photograph of Shengyang and Huiting was taken near sunset when the cloud finally started to cover the furious sun that had tortured us for the entire day. I dimmed down the ambient light and used my strobe to light the couple up. Eventually, we managed to document the details of the sky in the background as well to create the effect. This shot couldn't be captured beautifully with natural light since it was backlighting and the sky would likely to be overexposed.
This photograph of Jessyca was taken after sunset while there was still some small beams of light left in the background - the moment before complete darkness. I was able to light Jessyca up properly using my strobe.
V. Eye-catchy | You want to be special and stand out from the others
Wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event that we should spend extra effort to make it memorable. Having a special pre-wedding shoot album can serve the purpose. If you wish to stand out from others, other than signing up for overseas pre-wedding shoot packages, which many couples are already doing, you can do boutique/conceptual/themed shoots instead. We will come out with a few sets of interesting ideas related to your stories and create an unique wedding album.

One problem with me is that I don't like to do the same thing over and over again. This is why I'm always dying for interesting concepts or at least, I try to do my shoots in different parts of Singapore. Even for poses, I always utilize the creativity of my models.

The restaurant kindly granted us permission to do the shoot as Huiting contacted them via email before the shoot. We had very limited space while we had to avoid causing any inconvenience to the other customers. Eventually, we got a series of cute photographs there.

VI. Tasteful | You can be very sexy but still look classy
This is optional. You can be sexy or extremely sexy, but I will still be able to keep the photographs stylish. If you wish to create a stunning album, be open and discuss with me.
This photograph of Robyn Skye was taken in the late afternoon. The tall trees around made the place dim. Robyn had very good figure and thus this pose was very flattering. We kept it natural and stylish. No boob was intended to drop.
This photograph of Eva Loa was taken in my makeshift studio. With the privacy, she was able to focus and give good expression. We kept the shoot very stylish as we were creating art.
This photograph of Mike and Monica was taken in the late afternoon inside a hotel room after their ROM. The poses made the photograph sexy without having to bare skin.
VII. Night lighting | When night falls, you still look beautiful
Similar to capturing the details of the sky, a photographer will require using of artificial light in order to capture you with your face correctly and beautifully lighted up.
My night outdoor shoots are unique.
This photograph of Siaw Jo was taken at night. I tried to retain some of the ambient light at the background cast by the lamps. Without doing it, the background would be in near complete darkness except for the nearest lamp, and we might as well do the shoot inside a studio with black backdrop and at our comfort. The spot was dark but I managed to fire soft light to give Siaw Jo a flattering look while adding a soft rim of light at the back more towards the right side of the photograph to separate her hair from the dark background.
This photograph of Robyn Skye was taken at night. I retained the beautiful light at the background and fire a very soft light from my huge softbox at an angle that created the mood.
#5 Actual Day Wedding, ROM & Solemnization Photography
My wedding services include pre-wedding portrait photoshoot and wedding event shoot, such as ROM/ solemnization, actual day wedding, gate-crash and banquet.
These are major once-in-a-lifetime events. Photos should be captured at the right time and the right place; the decisive moment.
What people love about my photography is my journalistic shooting style because I cover the entire events and not just the highlights. Thus, I'm able to capture the entire event as a story. The way I express the story in terms of the angles of the shots, composition and lighting make my work unique.
