Lifestyle Beach Photoshoot with Isabelle
During the period of planning this photoshoot with Isabelle, we were rather worried about the weather. As the actual date of the photoshoot closed in, the weather forecast from various sources claimed it would be raining on that day. Eventually, the weather downscaled their claim to having showers only before sunrise. In the early morning, I popped my head over the windows to witness that the open ground wasn't wet. It didn't mean to be a good omen though.
The delays began bouncing my heart. The mishap of Isabelle's car GPS throwing tantrums and then the busy traffic slowed down her journey in picking me up. We were chatting happily until the GPS guided her up onto the expressway, which I was too slow to stop; and we ended up taking a tour on a longer trip. It was years since I last took a car ride into Palawan Beach in Sentosa that I didn't realise the route was changed and we ended up spending more time sightseeing before finally reaching our destination.
Isabelle was very chill throughout. In fact, she even planned to get me breakfast at Macdonald's drive-through before I discouraged her due to the lack of time.
My initial plan was to reach the beach at around 7.15am to grab the best light possible for this natural light shoot, although the actual booking was at 7.30am. We only got started minutes before 8am.
This beach photoshoot ended up becoming one of my most challenging photoshoots ever. Not only we had missed the best golden hour, but the sky was also totally clear. The sun poured down the warmest merciless rays ever while we got roasted under the open space most of the time. The harsh lighting was terrible and it also cost both the accuracy of the camera's focus system and image quality. Even as I tried to keep Isabelle hidden from direct sunlight, I wasn't able to bring down the distracting brightness of some of the backgrounds without the use of my lighting equipment.
The only comfort was that Isabelle was one of the best people to work with. She truly loved to be photographed, she loved learning about photography, she was able to understand the constraints, she took instructions well and she didn't have any temper. Being petite was another huge bonus so I didn't have to pose her much to look slimmer.
