Reviews: Clients' Testimonials
"Engaged Skai for a fitness indoor photoshoot and he was great! Skai is really patient and understanding, especially when I can be a demanding clientzilla (which I did not turn into) because of how professional and attentive he was. Skai was easy to speak with, which made the whole process smooth as we spoke through our expectation and reality at the beginning. He was very prompt in delivering the contact sheet and final images. Will recommend him :)"- Isabel Yeo, Urban Active Fitness

So, if you're looking for an editorial photographer in Singapore who's passionate about turning moments into memories, I'm here, ready to craft your unique visual story. Let's embark on this exciting journey together.
Skai's Vision & Goals for Editorial Photography
In the world of editorial photography, my vision and goals are shaped by the intriguing nature of this genre and the diverse purposes it serves. Editorial photography, by its very essence, is an avenue for storytelling. It can be a visual journey that conveys a message, an emotion or a narrative, all of which captivate the viewer.
Creativity becomes the lifeblood of this endeavour. Each shoot is a canvas, waiting for a unique story to unfold and it's the task of the photographer to craft images that resonate and connect. The ever-changing venues, often unpredictable, add an element of excitement and challenge. They can be grand or intimate, indoors or outdoors, in well-lit spaces or dimly lit corners, which is where experience and a well-equipped photography arsenal become indispensable.
My primary goal in editorial photography is to produce high-quality and meaningful photos. I want each image to be a visual masterpiece that not only meets but exceeds the client's goals. It's about creating images that have an impact, that serve a purpose and that leave a lasting impression. Whether it's a business campaign, a personal project or any other endeavor, my vision is to capture the essence of the subject and tell a story that resonates deeply with the viewer. It's a blend of artistic creativity, technical expertise and a commitment to delivering results that define my path in the world of editorial photography.
How Skai Began Doing Editorial Photography
I started by doing portrait shoots and showcasing my growing portfolio online. As my body of work expanded, clients began to take notice, approaching me not only for portraits but also for event and interior shoots.
One of my early forays into editorial photography was a significant milestone. An interior company, looking to feature their work in a magazine, reached out to me for a photoshoot that would highlight their creations. This project not only fuelled my enthusiasm but also introduced me to the intricacies of shooting for publications.
The story continued to evolve as an advertising company sought my expertise for a multi-faceted project encompassing portraits, product photography and interior shots. This multifaceted endeavour marked a turning point, demonstrating my capacity to handle a diverse range of photography needs.
Soon, clients began approaching me specifically for editorial portrait shoots, with a focus on images intended for interviews and marketing purposes within magazines.
It was a nervous start, recognising the importance of these images, but with every shutter click, I poured my best efforts into each editorial project, determined to create visuals that would make a mark in the world of publications.
Why Skai Loves Doing Editorial Photography
I love editorial photography for a multitude of reasons that have woven a beautiful tapestry of passion in my professional journey:
- Variety in the Craft: Editorial photography is a dynamic realm where I can explore a multitude of photography genres. It's an ever-evolving canvas that encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and create compelling visuals, proving that I can produce exceptional work regardless of the genre. This diversity keeps my creativity alive and thriving.
- Meeting Established Figures: Through editorial photography, I've had the privilege of crossing paths with established and accomplished individuals. It's not just about capturing their images but also the opportunity to learn from their experiences and soak in their positive energy. What's truly heartwarming is when these accomplished figures treat me not as a mere photographer but as a friend. It's a testament that in this world, kindness transcends wealth and this inspires me. This connection, even without tangible gains beyond friendship and my standard photography fee, is something I cherish deeply.
- Exposure and Impact: The joy of editorial photography lies in having my work seen by a broader audience, even if my name isn't always in the limelight. It's about creating images that tell stories and evoke emotions and when they find their way into magazines, they reach countless readers and resonate with them. It's the satisfaction of knowing that my visuals have the power to move people, even if it's from behind the scenes.
In essence, editorial photography isn't just a profession; it's a beautiful journey that enables me to explore, connect, and make an impact. It's a calling that I embrace with open arms, driven by my love for storytelling and the boundless creativity it offers.

It's a realm where I get to dive into different kinds of photography, from portraits to interiors, requiring on-the-spot creativity to solve photography challenges. This process hones my decision-making skills, sharpening my ability to think on my feet and adapt to ever-changing circumstances.
- Boost in Confidence: Working on photography projects involving established figures has significantly boosted my confidence. Standing beside accomplished individuals, sharing ideas and creating impactful visuals instils self-assurance, pushing me to aim higher. Furthermore, sincere compliments from these figures act as a morale boost and a testament to my craft's worth. Their genuine recognition of my dedication and creativity fuels my confidence, driving me to reach greater heights in editorial photography.
- Exploration of Singapore: Editorial photography is not limited by boundaries. It's taken me to different corners of Singapore, allowing me to explore the rich tapestry of cultures, locations and stories within this vibrant city.
