During our pre-shoot discussions, Jun Hao mentioned an underpass he thought might work well for the photos. I was sold after checking out a few reference shots online—and once we got there, I could immediately see why it stood out to him. The location had this raw, urban charm that paired surprisingly well with the clean style I usually go for. What really made it pop, though, was the lighting and the repeating lines of the brick walls and structure.

It was partially sheltered too, which made it perfect for unpredictable weather. I had actually planned to do this set earlier in the day to make the most of the shade, but with the grey skies threatening to pour, we decided to tackle the full outdoor sets first. That's always the challenge with multi-theme shoots—you're not just chasing light, you're playing a constant game of strategy with weather and location.

For this set, I decided to play around with a more futuristic look. I started with a shallow depth of field to create a creamy bokeh effect, softening the background and placing full focus on Jun Hao. After that, I switched the style to allow the sharp, structured lines of the bricks to shine through. The contrast between both approaches added variety and made the gallery more interesting—and honestly, it looked very cool. The whole vibe suited him and the intent of the shoot perfectly.

But the real surprise? Jun Hao himself. I expected to ease him into the poses gradually, maybe start with something more lifestyle. After all, this was his first-ever photoshoot. But he stepped in front of the camera and gave a polished, warm, almost “sunshine” celebrity vibe. He just got it—clean, simple poses, subtle expression control, and a calm confidence that made everything feel effortless.

As we wrapped, it wasn't just the photos I felt proud of—it was the way Jun Hao held himself throughout. Effortlessly stylish, open to ideas, and always bringing that spark of fun. It became clear: confidence, whether loud or quietly worn, carries far.
