Outdoor Corporate Group Photoshoot with Team Kaaryka Singapore
This modern outdoor corporate group photoshoot was done on the same day as the solo corporate pictures.
I was contacted more than half a year ago and a few times, I thought the project would be off, partially due to the pandemic. Eventually, we finalised it after the coordinator contacted me for the third time.
Before this photoshoot, I did hours of research on the Internet after getting the draft requirement from her. She wanted a location with a natural feel because the company was involved in many environmental-friendly projects. She also wanted the pictures to look trendy, as proposed by me. After sharing pictures of a few locations, they chose this location - Serene Garden at Gardens by the Bay.
The next request was that they wanted to include the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) towers. Since it was quite a distance away, I had to work with a smaller aperture to allow it to appear sharper, which was something to be factored into my planning.
I proposed to begin with this group photoshoot since it would be more challenging to do it towards noon time, as compared to the individual photoshoots. I was pleased with my decision as unforeseeable events eventually occurred to add to the difficulty of the photoshoot and I kind of saved my ass with the right decision.
That morning, I had a terrible stomach upset and had to catch the bus whose frequency was once every half an hour. Before leaving my house, I checked the weather forecast again and it looked good. I reached the venue before 7am and rushed to the nearest public toilet immediately. Then, I started hearing thunders. Soon, it started pouring heavily.
I was in an awkward situation as a couple of them arrived under the attack of the rain. I wasn't sure if they did check the weather forecast and understood that it wasn't negligence on my part.
Another group of them shared a cab and alighted at another part of the garden instead of the nearest carpark that I had highlighted on the screenshot of the map. Eventually, it took them some time to get over.
The rain refused to stop. We were all waiting in a small shelter with very limited seats. I didn't mind getting a little wet as the rain began to tone down, but I was more worried about the tiny droplets of water appearing inside the photographs.
By the time we started the group photoshoot, it was around mid-morning and unfortunately, a large chunk of cloud had dispersed, leaving us vulnerable to the merciless sun. I set up two lighting as planned to battle the harsh sunlight and I had to abuse my strobes by firing them at nearly their maximum power.
I wasn't able to play much with the composition of the shoot as I had to include the MBS towers. Moreover, I couldn't control the direction of the sun.
Fortunately, they were able to grasp my instructions and they performed well.
