About: Skai the Hotel Photographer
When I was young, hotel stays in Johor Bahru with my family were rare but deeply cherished. My home back then was often cluttered, so stepping into a thoughtfully designed space—a place where every detail, from the lighting to the textures, felt intentional—was magical. I'd soak in the atmosphere and dream of living in a space like that someday.
Looking back, I realise that's probably where my love for well-designed interiors began. I'm Skai, and I'm a hotel photographer based in Singapore. Now, every opportunity to capture the beauty of a hotel feels like a full-circle moment—one I truly appreciate.
The truth is, I never set out to become a hotel photographer. It just happened naturally. When I started realising that professional photography required more equipment, I began accepting commercial work to fund my gear. Many of those jobs were event coverage projects, and most of them happened inside hotels. Over time, it became a space where my love for interiors, storytelling, and people all came together.
I've photographed all sorts of things in hotels — intimate portraits, family gatherings, personal branding sessions, corporate events, proposals, birthday parties, and even quiet behind-the-scenes prep before a big function. I've also documented interiors for hotels, as well as for businesses using hotel spaces for pop-ups, campaigns, or creative launches.
Every hotel has a story, and every shoot is a fresh challenge. That's what keeps me going. I love working with people who welcome me into these spaces and help me find the best spots to shoot. Shooting in less conventional or boutique hotel rooms — or even in someone's home office set up within a hotel — is always an eye-opening experience for me.
At the end of the day, I just want to help people capture something meaningful. If it happens in a hotel, you can count on me to be there, camera in hand, quietly doing what I do best.
Why Skai is the Premium Choice for Hotel Photography
Every photographer has a different eye, and it's not just the camera settings that separate good from great. While my portfolio shows polished, professional images, it doesn't reveal the countless decisions, instincts, and adjustments I make in the moment. Hotel photography demands more than just technical skill; it calls for storytelling, sensitivity to the environment, and the ability to bring spaces and people to life—all at once. The qualities below are what truly set me apart, and they're the reason my clients keep coming back.
- Natural, Aspirational Images That Sell:
I craft visuals that do more than showcase a location—they evoke a feeling. Whether it's a plush bed by morning light, a couple smiling in a penthouse suite, or a buzzing hotel event, I capture scenes that draw viewers in and make them want to step into the experience.
- Lighting That Elevates Any Mood:
From the soft glow of ambient lamps to low-lit evening receptions, I know how to shape light to flatter both people and places. I use soft natural light where possible, and bring professional lighting when needed—always aiming to keep the vibe authentic, elegant, and warm.
- Creative, Customised Visuals:
No cookie-cutter photos here. Every hotel has its own soul, and I aim to express that through creative, tailored images that feel meaningful, on-brand, and impactful. I adapt to your goals and guide you through the creative process with ease and clarity.
- Meticulous Styling and Framing:
Interior photography is all about balance and detail, and I don't let anything slip. I straighten linens, clear distractions, adjust decor, and compose every frame with care, so your spaces look as impressive in photos as they do in real life (if not more so).
- Discreet and Guest-Friendly Event Coverage:
I move like a shadow at events—present but never in the way. From business conferences to private functions, I capture the atmosphere and candid moments without disrupting the flow. I always plan shoots around guest comfort, maintaining professionalism from start to finish.
