Outdoor Couple Photoshoot with Bryan & Abby
Listed in portrait category: Couple | Night Portrait

We finished our shoot at Gardens by the Bay just as the Supertree Grove light show was about to begin. I suggested that Bryan and Abby stay a little longer to take it in—it seemed like the perfect final touch to an already memorable visit.
They were excited by the idea, so I walked them over. And as a little gesture, I decided to stay on and capture a few night shots for them. It was completely unplanned—I didn't have my full lighting setup, just a small video light tucked in my bag. But it would do.
Capturing the Supertrees wasn't as graceful as the final shots suggest. They're incredibly tall, and to get them in frame, I had to shoot from ground level. Lacking a light stand or assistant, I improvised—hoisting the video light overhead with one hand, operating my DSLR with the other. It was awkward, sweaty, and surprisingly strenuous… but in the end, worth every drop of effort.
The lighting? Far from perfect. Nowhere close to the polished look I usually go for. But I made it work. Bryan and Abby were glowing—not just from the lights, but with joy and connection. And that, in the end, was what really mattered.
Sometimes, it's not about having all the gear. It's about making the most out of what you have, when it matters most. And I'm glad I could give them one more meaningful memory from their time in Singapore.
