Hiking Photoshoot with Zaid
Listed in portrait category: Vacation | Hobby

The setting for this shoot was Fort Canning Park, chosen to showcase Zaid in an easygoing and curious mood. My intention was to move away from staged photos and instead document him organically interacting with the environment, and the images turned out just as envisioned.
As we walked through the park, he gradually settled into himself. There were moments I didn’t even need to direct—he was just taking it all in. That kind of natural energy is hard to fake.
On our way to the next spot, we passed by a wall covered in graffiti. I thought it would be fun to contrast it with his clean style, so I got him to pause for a few quick shots.
And then it poured. Like, full-on downpour.
Despite the unexpected, Zaid remained composed. I suggested one final shot with his umbrella, and he readily agreed. It was unplanned, but it conveyed a story, which is always the heart of my work.
